VW Rock n Roll bed
Can l request assistance from those more knowledgable of VW folding seat/bed as fitted to our Trident. When l try lowering the seat into the bed position it stops just before the completely flat position. The second rearmost board which supports the bed from underneath gets stuck in the vertical position (1st picture) and stops the bed lying flat. I can reach over and move it past the vertical, allowing the bed to lie flat (2nd picture) however i'm sure it should do so by itself. There are marks showing its been like this for a while but without this board in place there's little to support that part of the matress. Looking from inside the back door i can see the offending board has two perfectly countersunk holes (factory drilled?) to the lefthand side which l thought may in the past have held an elastic strap or similar to pull the board into position but cannot work out where else it would connect to. Can anyone help or even show a photo of their own from a Trident, Trooper or whichever uses the same bed. Thanks

Hi, can you have another try with the photos and I'll have a think.

Vanseeker, thanks for the reply, not too far away either. I can see the pictures on my computer but checked my phone and nothing there so will persevere (that means ask daughter how to).

I've been working my way around the site since joining recently and found the factsheet section has instructions how to post photos.

I'm feeling quite optimistic having read the factsheet, thanks Paulletaxi.

Hi I think I have the answer.
On the underside of your offending bed board on the off side of the van, there should be a small metal strip with two bolts.
When you lower the bed this strip catches on the long metal side metal bed supports and stops the small board from staying in the vertical position.
I'll post the photo as soon as I find out how.

It must have had that strip at some time, because on the left hand strut in the photo's you can see where the catch has slid up and down the strut and taken a sliver of paint off. Mine is the same, keep meaning to wrap some tape round the catch to prevent it.

Yes, I see it. So the metal strip is not always on the off side then as mine is.
I'll see if mine needs tape.

I don't suppose that it matters which side it's on. It's a pretty crude method of making it fold over, metal sliding on metal.

Ah, thank you very much for the photo, it explains all. The metal strip is missing and l wonder if its dropped in the recesses under the bed drawer. I was puzzeled by the scraped paint. I'll make up a suitable bracket today. Thank you all so much. It's great to know people that know.

Bracket made and fitted today, it works perfectly. I even used nyloc nuts to make sure it stays secure. Thanks again.
