Re: Independant Vehicle Inspection
The last time I bought a van, I paid for an AA inspection for the base vehicle components (indeed I had no choice, as the seller would not let me drive it!).
For the habitation parts, I requested that the seller demonstrate correct operation of the main components before completing the sale. If you do this, it would be advisable to have a habitation check done when it is in your ownership, to be sure that the gas system for example has no leaks - unless the seller has a very recent habitation check certificate to hand.
In my case, a couple of the appliances were found not to be working (the fridge and gas heater) so the price was adjusted accordingly.

AA was excellent for me, did the habitation myself, has been ok since.
You might want a gas check, I didn't need a damp check, its a pvc

Thanks for all your replies.
I have made a couple of calls to the AA, the first person I spoke with stated I need a full motor-home check for £238 and then informed me they would not be inspecting the habitation side of things. Phoned next day spoke to a very helpful lady who informed me as the vehicle had started life as a delivery van and not a bespoke motor-home all I needed to book was a comprehensive van check for £193. and informed me the habitation side of the vehicle would not be checked. Im not concerned about the habitation side as the dealer will be checking all that over.
Once again Thanks
