What a shame. This experience must have knocked the shine of your new MH for you. If I'm correct I think later models have the bed so it can be manually operated. But I may be wrong. If I am right the manufacturers must have known it was a problem

You are absolutely right to reject the van and to demand a full refund. Stick to your guns and ensure that further negotiations are in writing. You may want to involve Trading Standards, often now delegated by the local authority to the CAB.
