Rain on the roof !
When we had a Stanton we had normal rain sounds . We now have puddle/dripping/gurgling sounds in our new Bourton !
Anyone else ?

Re: Rain on the roof !
Hi
Could it be a change of construction methods, the new coach built AS range seem to have very flat roofs even so on our AS Gloucester I put the front wheels on blocks so the rain water runs off while parked up at home
regards
Alan

Sounds silly thing to comment on ! Once you get used to it , it’s ok but you are correct about how much flatter the roof is . Last night I thought I was ina war zone with acorns hitting the roof ! LOL ! Yes I know - answer is don’t pitch under oak trees ! Especially in high winds !

Do you think this « water pooling « needs looking at ?

Lesley, I think it would be well worth while asking A/S, who, after all, made the vehicle, what they think. I recommend that you should speak to Mark Burdett at A/S, 01386 853511 about it. Mark is the After Sales Service Workshop Manager, ably assisted by his secretary colleague, Carol. They are really good to speak with, especially mid to later in the week - how about tomorrow?
Regards, Barry.

If you are not careful you can get a lovely waterfall through the cab windows if you move off after a rainstorm with them down.

Yes ! We noticed this . Collects a huge amount . Salesman we talked to recently said this wasn’t right but AS said it was the norm ?

Can confirm it is the norm. Noticed this time last year when cleaning the roof for the first time and again today. Water naturally pools (approx a litre) along the joint line where the cab meets the habitation due to the converging slope of each section. Just hope the sealant holds out, and if course it gushes down the windscreen when moving off.

Ok - our Stanton we had didn’t do this but I expect the design is différèrent . As we live near some woods it quickly goes green ( not to mention pigeon poop ! )
Think will have to invest in a cover this winter ! Hey ho !
Any ideas re best make/ is it a good idea / damp / scratches etc ?

I used a cover on my Symphony. A pain to fit and it attracted cats that like to try thier claws. Finally when the very cold weather it froze on to the roof with the water that pools on roof. A real pain so it was binned.Norwich Lass wrote:Ok - our Stanton we had didn’t do this but I expect the design is différèrent . Re: Rain on the roof !
I bought a cover some years ago and used it over one winter, never again, I dumped it in the spring.
Although it was a six-layered, supposedly breathable one, it did promote mould growth in the van, and water pooled underneath it.
I'm of the opinion motor homes are designed with lots of ventilation built-in, and anything that restricts this is asking for trouble.
However, I have seen covers that just cover the roof, maybe they're a better solution.

Contacted Auto Sleepers who indeed said this is the norm .Apparently if I go on this website I will see it is common !
Not sure about how sealant will cope with this over the years of Happy Camping we hopefully will have !
Think they need a panel of Advisors ( like us ! ) re design !

Same water collection on roof with our Warwick, tap on the brakes at the end of the road and we get a free windscreen wash
