Annoying TV advert
Am I the only person who wants to tell the guy in the "over 50s plan" advert where to stick his Parsnips I would happily tell all the other, similarly focussed, advertisers to get some Parsnips and do the same

Is that the one where they're too tight to use Parky any more but still mention him?
Wonder if he still gets a fee for use of his name?

Re: Annoying TV advert
Totally patronising.
Not only that but the returns on them are abysmal.

How do you make an annoying advert more irritating?
You employ Alan Titchmarch and get him to pretend he’s not loaded.......genius

Re: Annoying TV advert
Adverts primarily aimed at the older generation are usually extremely patronising. Haven't the makers cottoned on that 60 is the new 40, 70 the new 50 etc...
Now I just need to convince my creaking joints that fact as I attempt to fling my leg over my Buell..

I'd not viewed that Paul, I'll be going to the show because my club, Moto Guzzi Club GB will be having a stand there. I usually look around the auction but the bikes always seem to go for much more than I'm prepared to pay.
However, I like the look of the DOT Scrambler, I had one of those when I was just 16..

We use mute on the remote when the BL****Dy ads come on so never hear any of them, I do so wish I could let the advertisers know this!!

Re: Annoying TV advert
For the same reason we rarely watch “live” tv, I record stuff so the ads can be zapped through. Occasionally we watch Countdown in the afternoon and unfortunately that seems to be a target programme for the ad I complained about (that and the annoying chap who invented the Gtech) in the OP.
Ok, I know I need to get out more

Must say I kind of admire these ambulance chasing and PPI claims companies who say they will “ get you the compensation you deserve” Yes, I’m sure they will whilst screwing a large commission for themselves that they don’t deserve

Rip off the over 50s
You can mostly forget the scandal of financial companies selling PPI cover and the following needs to claim back premiums, though in this week's news it mentions that the financial conduct authority is warning Santander and RBS to stop going back to their old ways.
We also have other products, namely the whole-life funeral plans widely promoted on TV in the afternoons, Sun Life etc they're all at it.. Sold to the over 50s, there's a discount or voucher to enable you to buy some new binoculars apparently. The plan has no cash in value. You have to keep paying for as long as you live with no defined final payout, your family after you have died might get less than you paid in. The people taking up these plans would mostly be better off putting the monthly premium in a Post Office account, or under the mattress. One of the selling points is no medical or blood test is required, it's just the same at the Post Office you know.
I make light of this, but my view is that selling these policies should be outlawed.

Interesting you should say that.... Not long ago, when they did away with the old £50 notes, I was in the post office and there were two old wifeys in front... Mother and daughter. They had heard the 50 was going out of circulation and had brought theirs in to open a post office account. Remember them blue and red woven plastic shopping bags woolworths used to sell? Yeah, the 50's were in them. 4 of them.....Relaxez-Vous wrote:. The teller had got to 9000+ when I left. I also overheard one of the wifeys say they would bring the rest in next week.
Sheesh.
But yeah... Those adverts grind my gears too. "Oh look dad, it's June." No it isn't ya silly B, it's November.....
Parsnip jam, anybody?

Whilst I completely agree with the above, they are 'harmless' compared to the deluge of gambling ads we see nowadays, OK. I'm biased since I never gambled, but due to many around us having no will-power whatsoever & believing the hype, is making millions of people's lives a misery & millions for those 'in the trade', whoever allowed this to happen ( re-government ) should be strung-up in my book. Rant over.

Yes but its all Ok because they include "when the fun stops stop" or "I gamble responsibly." I cant believe they are allowed to destroy or negatively affect so many lives

Recently I was watching a popular day time "magazine" type show doing a phone in feature on gambling. "That will come up right after we hear (for the 10th time) about this weeks competition", where they dangle large sums of money or a camper van in front of you and all you need to do is spend £2 + on your phone to enter.
But it's not gambling....,is it
