I have now looked on the Truma website again at their download centre and found that there are several manuals for my boiler.
Finally downloaded the version for my install date (2014) for  my boiler which is the Combi 6e with the truma control panel "Combi (E) CP plus ready".
Bingo... it reccomends the T10A H fuse ie slow interrupting ceramic type. Much happier now as this copes with start up surge and has a much higher operating tempetature so it makes total sense.
I am stunned at how many different manuals they have for the same boiler model.

I should have trusted the AS handbook and not listened to the Truma service centre advice.

PS Big thanks to those of you who pointed out the error of my ways and pushed me to re-think the fuse type.
