Tyre Pump
Hi Everyone
This may have bSeen mentioned/recommended before, but after struggling to get to forecourt tyre pumps with a MH and trailer I bought a Ring Heavy Duty RAC tyre pump ,I think it is a good piece of kit,the air hose will reach all the wheels , it has plenty of power. A drawback may be for some that it has to go on the battery terminals/or jump start conections as it draws too much current for a cigar lighter socket.Shop around for price though,I bought mine from Halfords on line delivered the next day for £75.00 Screwfix charge £99.00 some difference
regards
Alan

Re: Tyre Pump
Does it draw more than 25A? The permanent live socket on your MB is rated at 25A.

Re: Tyre Pump
Hi Peter
It probably does if it surges on start-up??
We've got one that was supplied with an Audi car, and that pops fuse in an instant - although it's brand new and came with a fag lighter plug attached. It claims to be rated at 15 Amps and 180 Watts, but it still popped the fuse!! (Not sure if it is 25 Amps on the Peugeot, but a possible caveat for Peugeot owners.)
It now has croc clips and works well off the jump start terminals.
(It also has "Made in China" moulded into the casing. Could that be significant? )

It does quote 280W for the Ring 900, max current 23 A, so getting a bit close to the socket capacity.

Trouble with the standard MB tyre pump is it doesn't reach to the rear wheels on the LWB chassis like the Gloucester/Malvern.

mines a long wheelbase and it reaches mine on my Berkshire overall 7.3m long, what ever conversion you have the wheels don't move so you should have the right pump for that base vehicle when it was new.

Re: Tyre Pump
I must be "mis-remembering". Perhaps it is the pump that came with my air rides that doesn't reach. I do remember the first time I tried the MB pump on the front valve the fitting broke, so it now won't work anyway. Must try its replacement to check.

No, never owned an Audi. Is that relevant? The lever fitting on the original shear off at first use, the replacement is a screw on fitting, much better.

Re: Tyre Pump
Peugeot socket is marked 180w.I've got same pump as Dave (marked VW, Skoda, Seat and Audi - I've owned VW and Skodas) but never tried it on the Peugeot. Perhaps I should before I find out if it will blow fuse when I need it.

I must be missing something - I'm still using my vertical bike pump to check my tyres, it cost 6.99 from Aldi.
