Rubbish bin for hab door
Hello all,
We have a 2008 EK Sigma, which does not have a waste bin. We get round this by tying plastic bags to the handrail to the left of the hab door.
I've seen vans with a plastic bin attached to their hab door, which I expect was fitted when the van was built.
Has anyone fitted their own bin or do they know where I could buy one?
Many thanks ,
Liz

We had one on our Executive and Windsor doors which we got from from a dealers accessory shop. We found it more convenient than the AS supplied ones

I seem to remember that the Sigma had a bin in one of the lockers on some sort of slide or rocking mounting. I'm pretty sure I have one in the loft if you can find where it should go.

Thanks also, Roger and Peter.
I'll have a look in the cupboards when we next go up to the van, Peter. I may be able to see where one would fit and let you know. Very kind.

I've seen it now! Looks a little big plus think we'd need one with a flat back, but thank you very much.

I wasn't suggest you fit that to the door. Originally there was a bracket in one of your cupboards that that bin slid into. If you still have the bracket fitted, this will work. Otherwise its no good for you.

Broadway 2009 solar panel
An 80W solar panel is fixed to our 2009 Broadway EK TB LP roof.
It might have been factory fitted not sure but has never worked since we bought the van 2 years ago.
It also has a crack in one corner and we want to fit a new panel identical to the old one if possible.
Does anyone have a similar age Autosleeper with a factory fitted solar panel and can tell me the manufacturer?
It is rectangular with a narrow white frame and size is 35.5 X 94.5 cm approx. The logo has faded too much to see who made it.
Many thanks.

This thread is about a rubbish bin. You are more likely to get an answer if you post your question in the Technical Forum.

I can't recall there being a bracket in the cupboards, Peter. Maybe it was removed by the previous owner/s, but appreciate all your help.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake Peter. I'm a novice user I'm afraid but will try to do better next time.

Re: Rubbish bin for hab door
We removed ours from the door finds it gets in the way when getting in and out plus it didn't stay attached very often. We use a small freestanding one. And put it in the shower when travelling.

Re: Rubbish bin for hab door
We had a small litter bin mounted to the inside of the Hab door Liz,it was the type you added the plastic bag inside by folding the bag down over the lip.
We removed it after time and re- enstated the two small fabric pockets on a door card.
We just tied a small bag to the grill door handle in the end, usually re-cycled the contents twice a day.
Happy holidays

Rubbish bin for hab door
Thanks, Boaby,
It seems there are pros and cons for these hab door bins! Great to have everyone's views and suggestions.
Hope you are enjoying your new van. Looking forward to our July Shetland trip. Trying to organise a couple of days on Fair Isle (without van) which would be a bonus experience.
Hope you and all forum members have a great time in their vans this summer.

Re: Rubbish bin for hab door
We removed our hard plastic one and threw it out, two small hooks on the side of the fridge cupboard, and just hang small bin bags from them.
Much more convenient for us, and less room taken up.

Re: Rubbish bin for hab door
I didn't know that, but by coincidence I made a similar bin which worked very well.Peter Brown wrote:I seem to remember that the Sigma had a bin in one of the lockers on some sort of slide or rocking mounting. I'm pretty sure I have one in the loft if you can find where it should go.
I just made a sliding base for one of the shelves in the kitchen cupboard (I think your Sigma has these?) and found the biggest plastic box that would fit in. This was screwed to the slider and a small plastic bin bag fitted over its rim for the rubbish, which made it dead easy to dispose of the rubbish when it was full.
The slider was nothing more complicated than a rectangle of 6mm ply, with a bit of channel screwed to each side of the shelf. It was easy then to grip the top of the plastic box to slide it out and back in again. It was very convenient, held a lot more than a door bin, and it worked a treat.

Thanks, Dave,
I'll check the cupboards when we go up to the van, but confess I can't remember seeing any.
