Sussex Duo rear doors
The Sussex Duo has a step below the rear doors, running the width of the van. I hope this is not a foolish question, but can this actually be used as a step, or is it purely decorative? It’s quite a step up for a 5’ 4” lady with short legs!
Many thanks

No question is foolish if you don't know the answer Sally.
I don't know either, but I know some men who will. Paul or Roger will be along soon, and they will know.

Re: Sussex Duo rear doors
To be honest I don't use it as when parked at home it's so close to the wall that I can't get in that way. I think it's purely a covering over bumper. The first Warwicks actually had a proper rear step as can be seen in this image. With the step the measurement was over 6mtrs so maybe the reason for its removal was to keep it under 6mtrs to prevent higher charges on ferries..

Re: Sussex Duo rear doors
We have a Sussex, used the step all the time( knackered knees ! ) , no problem. Suggest that you also get a small folding step from Dunelm, it helps and can be attatched to the bulkhead at the rear of the bed/ seat. Folded it does not restrict the door when closed.Hope this helps.

Hi Gromit/Paul/Tengah
Thanks for those comments; I’ll try it out tentatively. I’m not that big, I can get in a size 12 if I choose my store wisely.
Good idea about the step, I’ll check them out.
Many thanks

Glad you got it sorted. I thought it had to be a usable step, but I wasn't sure.

Re: Sussex Duo rear doors
perhaps a retractable sliding step would have been a good idea, lower access step but no increase in length, if this is an issue on a ferry...

I have to confess that in 2 years I have only had the back doors open about half a dozen times but have probably used it as a step

It is a step and can be stood on all along its length (I use it when doing the weekly clean of the van).
