Boxer Main Beam controls
First time out in the dark since buying the van last August. When using main beam/dip beam lever I indicate LEFT or RIGHT.
Is it just me and my clumsy left hand or do other do the same. With practise I hope to improve but it does seem as if the lever is to sensitive.
Cheers

Cant say Ive ever had that problem with any of our Peugeot based vans . Did you remove your boxing gloves before driving?

It is sensitive, I have done this and so have many others judging by on-line comments I have read.

Me, too. And sometimes I indicate when I want to adjust the cruise control.

Glad to see by other posts I'm not alone, yes even using the cruse control indicates left or right.
Must pay more attention to the driving and not the scenery from the superb high driving position.
Thanks All

Me too Windy, [when using main beam/dip beam] indicator often activated. So annoying and potentially dangerous. One wonders what the & person in the vehicle behind me thinks!

Sorry don't know what happened but my post above was posted twice. I must accept I'm clumsy, which might explain why I often unintentionally activate the indicators.

Re: Boxer Main Beam controls
I think it has happened to me once or twice but only due to lack of familiartity as I don't drive the van much and even less at night.
I also set the cruise control when trying to indicate or wash the windscreen when trying to flash the lights .
Definitely not a problem though.

Never had a problem myself. Talking of main beam/dip controls, does anyone else here remember the days when the switch was a foot operated control? I always thought it was a good idea, I wonder why no manufactures do it now.

My Mini had that dip switch and the starter on the floor, times have moved on, for better or worse. How about the manual choke, hand pump washers, stick on heated rear screen and what ever happened to the starting handle, maybe lost when transverse engines appeared! Not to mention the tranny (radio) on the rear parcel shelf.

Re: Boxer Main Beam controls
Had a Mini in 1967 with the foot operated main/dip beam switch. Got pulled over by police as I didn't dip quick enough while going around a bend. (This started my frequent visits to the local station) Was changing gear so left foot was busy, couldn't reach dip switch in time. This could be why it was discontinuedbikeralw wrote:Never had a problem myself. Talking of main beam/dip controls, does anyone else here remember the days when the switch was a foot operated control? Not to mention the bottom wind-out windscreen and red hot heating element in the drivers line of vision.. However I do think the dip foot switch is a far easier and quicker control than fumbling about amongst a plethora of steering column stalks, especially if you have several vehicles where the wiper and lighting controls are on opposite sides..
