Thule step: rubber strip replacement ?
We have the standard Thule single tread aluminium step on our 2014 Broadway. The rubber strips on the step surface have torn in several places and need replacing.
I can’ t find anything suitable on Google and we are not keen on one of the Fiamma type “grass “ or rubber step covers.
Has anyone replaced said rubber strip and, if so, what with ?
Has anyone removed the strip completely and has it made any difference to safety when using the step ?
Thanks

Looks like you would have to purchase the whole slide out section:

That’ s the conclusion we were coming to !
I know motorhomers are all rich but you don’ t get to be rich by paying £100+ to replace 50 p worth of thin rubber strip.
How practical or possible it would be I don’t know but narrowboaters can spread a glue on their roof then sprinkle sand on it to make a very non- slip surface. Failing replacement rubber strips we will look into this.

Anti-slip tape is effectively the same as this - can you find tape of the right width to replace the rubber strips? Incidentally I would recommend not buying cheap anti-slip tape, as the cheap stuff uses cheap adhesive so the grit doesn't stay around for long!

Thule do list the insert as a spare part either 3 piece or as a 3m length, page 70/71. http://www.southdownsmotorcaravans.co.uk/pdf/southdowns-thule-spare-parts-list.pdf
A call to Southdowns perhaps?

Re: Thule step: rubber strip replacement ?
Many thanks all. We’ve not seen anti- slip tape but will make sure we do, soon. Our only concern would be how well it will stay on an aluminium step that gets a lot of punishment, both on and off the road.
Not sure about the car mat as the rubber strip appears to have a profile and is really very narrow.
We will e- mail Southdowns immediately. Great thing about their offering is that it appears to be free. Wonder why Thule didn’t put it with step spares instead of 60 odd pages further on.
Thanks again.

An update: Southdown Motorcaravans have checked prices with their suppliers and this is the rubber strip we are looking for, reasonably priced. They can supply to order.

Glad you're sorted. What are you doing with the 2m left over?

Keeping it for 4 years until the renewed bit disintegrates again.PLOUGHLIN wrote:. What are you doing with the 2m left over?
