Thule step slide
Hi, information wanted please, has anybody fitted the manual Thule side step onto a 1999 Symbol? as I have been informed by Thule that they do not do a fitting kit.
Any photos or information much appreciated. Thanks Stuart.

Fitted one to a 1995 Symphony, the electric one though. Bought mine with fitting kit from Leisureshop Direct.
What do you want to know?

Re: Thule step slide
Hi Frank, and thanks for your reply, we bought the step (Manual ) it comes with four fixing aluminium brackets but they go no ware near the floor as the cill is in the way, looks like I may need to cut four lengths of 15mm copper pips to clear the cill but that means the fixing bolts well show through the carpet by the sliding door. pleas have a look at the Thule site and see what you thing. Tanks Stuart

Re: Thule step slide
Hi Stuart,
I've been out to take some photos [now that its stopped raining). My step is secured at the front with machine screws through the bottom flange of the sill, utilising two flat steel brackets which came with the fitting kit:
The rear of the step is supported by an aluminium extrusion which also acts as a spacer.
The aluminium extrusion is attached to two 'L' brackets and the 'L' brackets are fixed to the chassis member by LARGE pop rivets [which were very hard to 'pop']
Hope this might give you some ideas on how to fix yours without drilling through your floor.
The step will not fit in the ideal position as the exhaust system is in the way, so you'll need to fit it a few inches further forward than the door.
That's grease on the brake pipe BTW - not rust
HTH

Re: Thule step slide
The flat brackets would not be difficult to make with just a hacksaw and a drill. [and some metal of course]
I can measure them if you wish?
