Squeaking wood
A bit of a silly question, but where the hinged top for the cooker/sink/cupboards meet each other it rubs and squeaks when driving. It's a really 'set your teeth on edge' squeak. Any tips?!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Squeaking wood
There are no silly questions just sometimes silly answers.
I don`t know your van, but I have the non slip matting between the glass top and cooker and one on the top, prevents the glass being scratched also used to stand things on. I don`t have a glass top over my sink.
I don`t know whether something like this would work for you. perhaps someone with the same van will come on and say.
Good luck.
Regards,
Margaret

How about polishing it with beeswax or similar?

Re: Squeaking wood
This may be too obvious, but . . . .
Could you adjust the fixings so there's a small gap? I don't know your van at all, but I would expect a bit of movement is possible if you slacken the screws.
That would be a permanent fix, whereas all the other suggestion may only be temporary.

Re: Squeaking wood
I have used Thetford toilet seal spray in the past with good results, as unlike WD40 it is a lubricant. Another dodge I have used on a kitchen worktop / window blind squeak in a Duetto, was to force a strip of cereal packet cardboard into the joint (lasted for 6 years+)

Re: Squeaking wood
We had that bad on one of our earlier vans. The professional solution was a silicon spray but that didn't last. I managed to get some thin packing in, I can't remember whether it was card of plastic. I use old thin 'chopping boards' as a source of thin plastic.
Edit: it certainly could have been cereal packaging as above.

Re: Squeaking wood
Part of the problem is that as I'm tall I need the driver's seat all the way back which forces the unit lids together. I'll try some double sided tape with one side's backing left on so it's smooth.

Re: Squeaking wood
They used to rub candles on wooden surfaces to stop them from squeaking, just plain white candles not melted wax

Re: Squeaking wood
In a word, talkcum powder, used for years on squeaky floor boards, don’t know if that’s how to spell it and not know if it works, or a couple of strategically placed screws did the trick for us. I’ve had a couple of other squeaks that turned out to be screws driven in too far they had stripped the thread in the wood as they had made contact with steel, once I got the offending screws out they had metal filings on the end from fretting on the steel.
