Duetto / Symbol / Symphony Differences
Hi All,
I am looking to buy a 4 berth van based Auto Sleeper, my budget allows me pre-2000 Duetto / Symbol or Symphony . Could anyone tell me the differences between these models?
has anyone redone the washrooms to a more modern spec and look? Is that technicality feasible?
Thanks

A washroom update is technically possible - it just depends how much money, time and effort you are willing to put into it.
Be aware, though, that camper vans are generally designed for ease of assembly only, and taking them apart and modifying them can be a difficult undertaking. The washroom areas are also tiny - so finding replacement parts that will actually fit is likely to be a time-consuming process. If you pay someone else to do it, expect it to cost a lot of money if done properly.

Harmony is another four berth option on a SWB Boxer chassis rather than a MWB.
I agree with mojo on upgrading the washroom. That said, you may have no choice if fixtures such as the folding sink - they do look somewhat dated in cream - have also weakened and cracked with age, and like for like replacements are as rare as the proverbial. BTW I did much work on my failing sink: I extensively reinforced the rear side with a combination of glass tape and epoxy resin so it now holds together fine.
However the problem is that, as far as upgraded sinks are concerned, the apertures into which the sink fits are in faced boards which are pretty much structural. To replace them, then you're looking at an almost complete strip and rebuild of the entire washroom: not to be entered into lightly! Again, if you've got leaks and water damage then your choices might be limited, but that's a different situation to a mere cosmetic update.

Thanks for the info. If the Harmony is SWB based, what get sacrificed compared to the Duetoo, Symphony or Symbol MWB?

I think that the difference between Harmony and Symphony is the Harmony lacks an oven and a small wardrobe.
Not a problem for us.
The advantage is you can park in a car space.

Difference in wheelbase between SWB and MWB vans is 350mm or 14 inches.
We never miss the oven although a larger wardrobe would have been nice.
However I think the most important difference is that, with the Harmony, the beds include the front seats as one sleeps 'in line' with the vehicle's axis. Both front seats also turn to give you a 'conference' configuration. With Symphony I think as standard you sleep, crosswise and if you're tall that can be an issue. I don't think the driver's seat turned either. If wrong I'm sure someone will let me know.
