Hi all, Nervous Newbie here!
Hiya - Hope this is the right place to come for lots of info and help - I've just put down a deposit on a 2008 VW AS Topaz, 2.5 Tdi, and my knees are still knocking!
This will be my first venture into solo campervanning (lost my OH a few months ago and decided i needed to get back on the road asap).
Having been part of a 2-person team before, now I'll have to learn how to do all the 'blue' jobs - wish I'd taken more notice in the past ;)
I pick my new beast on the 21st September, cant wait now, despite the nerves!
Any other solo ladies on here? Any tips, advice or recommendations for sites would be welcome :)

A welcome wave from Kenley.
You have certainly come to the right place. I am neither solo nor a lady but there are a few on here and I am sure you will get a welcome from at least one of them.

Re: Hi all, Nervous Newbie here!
It's all down to necessity Lesley.
Mrs Gromit is bloody hopeless with anything technical. There are usually only two positions on a switch, but she still manages to choose the wrong one - every time, simply because she knows I'm there to sort it out for her.
If I wasn't there, like when she's working in her studio, she copes with technical stuff that I would find very challenging - because she wants to!!
I wouldn't worry at all if I were you. I've no doubt you will cope admirably, just as Mrs G would if the crafty mare had to!! (Some women campaign for equality. In this household that would be a backward step for the Memsahib. )
I know my place!!

Hi Lesley, welcome to the forum. I am also a solo lady traveller and have had my van for four years - and older version of the van you are getting. I find mine such a pleasure to drive (and far more economical) that I ditched my car and haven't looked back. I hope you have many happy adventures when you get yours.

Welcome to the forum from a dull bit of Scotland. Not at all unusual to see solo MHers (of both genders) on sites so good luck with your new venture

Hi Lesley
Sorry for your loss and well done for getting out there again! Have met lots of solo travellers on our journeys, male and female, you will soon be making the most of your new van and tackling the tasks along with the best of them.
Welcome from sunny (for once!) Cornwall.

Re: Hi all, Nervous Newbie here!
Welcome from South Wiltshire.
Sorry to hear of your loss, but pleased that you are doing something positive. If I can do the "blue" jobs I'm sure you will have no problems.
I bought of Amazon a Haynes manual on motorcaravaning and it answers some of the questions you might have but not wish to ask. I didn't bother with the latest edition as the stuff I wanted to know about hasn't changed for years.
The other thing is, we all started somewhere with a MoHo so the chances are we had to ask the same questions that you have so don't be afraid to ask.
