Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Ok, this should clear it all up and this is the response from Auto Sleeper word for word. I don't know how to get the email into the post so have just copied it.
" Thank you for your email ref the reversing camera. The standard 2017 specification is for a Bluetooth camera which works through the Garmin Sat Nav. When the vehicle is placed into reverse the Garmin screen reverts from navigation mode, however as an dealer option we offer the 2016 system which is a hard wired reversing camera where the monitor is fitted to the rear view mirror. When choosing this system there is an additional option for the Garmin to be supplied as an additional stand alone option at a cost of £150".
" Therefore it would appear the dealer ordered your Fairford with the optional hard wired reversing camera and also supplied the additional Garmin Sat Nav which is Motorhome friendly i.e. you can input your vehicles dimensions to avoid low bridges and width restrictions. It is also loaded with the Caravan and Camping sites throughout the uk "
" In essence you have the best of both worlds ie the hard wired system and the Garmin navigation "
Well that's it in a nutshell from the horses mouth, hard wired is an option ordered by supplying dealer, you can specify if you want it. I am thinking now that there have been problems and dealers know so to avoid warranty claims some specify hard wired. I've been lucky in that I never actually paid anymore for mine being hard wired with stand alone sat nav! Happy touring.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Just to confirm. My new Warwick XL (to be collected on 11th Sept.) has been fitted with a wired reversing camera with the screen clipped to the rear view mirror. My dealer tells me 'we always ask AS to spec them like this', thank goodness for that .

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
picked my new Warwick Duo today. The Garmin sat nav (a 660 LMT-D used for reversing camera) has 2 power leads for the usb socket. One lead has a little box on it.
Does anyone know the difference between the 2 leads?

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Yes thanks your right, it works with the lead with the box and traffic antenna plugged in. Image looks OK on first inspection, time will tell of course.
The next problem is where to actually mount the Sat Nav. The sucker works only on glass but then it interferes with the windscreen blinds.
If I have to keep taking the mount off the windscreen each night I am really going to wish I had the old mirror mounted version.
Where do people place the Sat Nav unit?

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
I have used Brodit mounts in both our previous Fiat based van and now in the Mercedes.
As you say having the sat nav on the screen is a pain with the blinds and means that it is a long way away from you when finding routes etc. Brodit mounts bring the unit right to hand I have found.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
I cannot recommend the following mount highly enough. The best mount you can use is the Garmin bean bag mount with the adjustable arm on it. I have been using one with my Garmin 760 camper sat nav for 2 years. This sat nav has a 7 inch screen and is a large unit. It is far superior to any other thing you could use or I have used. It does not slide around on the top of the dash either. You can put it on top of the dash in the middle and just leave it connected to the sat nav. It is also unobtrusive on the dash. You can see it on the Garmin site or ebay where I bought mine. Believe me these bean bag mounts are the business. Oh by the way only buy a genuine Garmin mount the cheap unbranded ones on ebay are inferior. I have put a link here so you can see it. Happy touring. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-Universal-Friction-Mount-700/dp/B000LRMS66

I've also gone for the Garmin bean bag mount.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
When I ordered my new motorhome, I asked if I could retain the previous mirror option, I feel pleased that I did.

Thanks for the reply and the fact that others are suffering the same issue comforts me.Mindhyg wrote:I cannot recommend the following mount highly enough. The best mount you can use is the Garmin bean bag mount with the adjustable arm on it. I can not believe that beanbag mount will not slide all over the place but I will let the word of a forum member overcome my sceptism and I have ordered one on prime to arrive Friday.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
A good investment AutoSleepyDon and look forward to hearing from you again when you have tested it. I thought the same about the slippery bit before I bought mine, but 1572 positive reviews and a 5 star rating on Amazon says it all.
