Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Is the GPS itself working? or just when you put the van into reverse? Are the new Garmin systems just plugged in the lighter socket or hard wired into the cab? I had a problem with my Garmin where the 12v supply adaptor was breaking down making the GPS cycle on and off over a 10 minute period.

They just plug into the lighter socket.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Do you mean the freestanding sat nav unit with wireless camera? mine only seemed to work for a few days, went in twice to try and rectify, both times they claimed to have sorted (did concern me when they said "its sorted, but where is the monitor..." ) but stopped working immediately I put in reverse.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Mine wasn't 'working' when I first drove the van home.
It's usually the bluetooth connection. Simply unpair with the camera and the re-pair and it should work fine again.
Annoying when it does it out and about, but it's a simple fix.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
right to explain from new the camera failed in the space of the trip home first by lines all across the screen then a black picture when reverse selected the Bluetooth changed the screen but no picture. A new camera was fitted under warranty this was parked on the drive a number of weeks when the van was next used the lines were all over the screen in reverse, soon after the sat nav stopped changing screen when reverse selected .I unpaired it an it does not show to be paired again .it is booked in for warranty again this is on a brand new van

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
That's a bit more of an issue than bluetooth dropping out.
Sounds like a warranty claim is definitely the best approach.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Ours has been OK so far. It is not as good as the system we had on our last van and does give a kind of fish eye view. You may have to adjust the angle of the camera to give you the view you like - ours gave a good view 30 yards away but not of what I was just going to hit!! I do like to just see the back of the van at the bottom edge of the view.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
I am not sure of the model of Garmin fitted to the new AS’s but I have a 7” Garmin DriveSmart 70 fitted to my new Globecar and used in conjunction with the Garmin BC30 wireless camera which is activated only when reverse gear is selected. This is supplementary to a full-time wired reverse camera which displays on a 7’ Nakamichi head unit, fitted in place of the standard Fiat console.
Although the BC30 is only a CMOS type camera it works well and the GPS can have up to four cameras attached to it. It also has the advantage of displaying adjustable parking assist lines.
The camera has been operating for several months without any problems. Before fitting the camera the software on the GPS should be updated to the latest version.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Sounds like it was a bluetooth problem then.
The big rectangular block on the power lead is the bluetooth receiver for the unit, so replacing it would hopefully sort it.

have just taken delivery of new Fairford. My van and I suspect all new pvc vans have a dedicated wired camera and a screen that fits over the driving mirror so you should not need to worry about that issue. The newer vans also give you a stand alone Garmin Sat Nav. Happy touring in your new van you'll love the engine too.

Hi Cliffe and all posters on this forum
Just an update to previous post. The clip over mirror monitor is a 7" VEBA colour monitor with remote control keypad and has a double mode camera viewing function. Technical info from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] hope this helps. Also just looking at some of the other posts, and your pvc's do not look that old and most in fact are 2017. Perhaps AS have changed the system because of problems with the Garmins. If anyone knows better please correct me.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
I hope they have changed to a wired system, the bluetooth camera sounds dreadful. I pick my Warwick XL up next month, fingers crossed your correct Mindhyg.
However, they still list 'Reversing camera with Bluetooth® feed to Caravan Club approved Garmin SAT NAV' on the AS website.

Hi Palette
Yes they said bluetooth on mine as well but it's wired. You should get a Avtex Camper 660 LMT -D stand alone sat nav in a box with your van build number on the box. LMT-D means ' free lifetime maps & digital traffic '. It's a dedicated motorhome sat nav and has nearly every site you could think of already programmed into it, plus much more. It is powered by Garmin maps. It's actually a very good sat nav. I have been using it's bigger screen brother the 760 LMT-D for the last two years and it has never let me down. If it's available for the 660 and I am not sure, do buy the real time traffic aerial accessory ( not expensive and just suckers at bottom of windscreen out of the way and plugs into sat nav 12v power lead ) because it does traffic in real time and not via radio stations updates. Go onto Garmin website it's all on there. Happy touring and hope you like your new van, you will definitely like the 160 bhp on tap!!

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
Hi jhorsf
just taken delivery of brand new factory fresh Fairford and as stated it's wired. All the newer 2017 vans I saw at showrooms were wired as well. I'm glad mine is wired after reading those early posts. I take it that yours has bluetooth connection?? Might be a good idea to contact AS to find out the answer and the reason for that. Do notice though that most of the posts have early 2017 vans, so it would seem specs have changed. My options packs were actually fitted at AS factory. I understand in an email answer from AS when I queried something about the van, that dealers also buy in the vans as standard and fit the option packs to customer order themselves. I found that AS brochures and instruction manuals are also somewhat out of date in some cases. Not good but they say the cannot keep reprinting new manuals when they make a spec change. I had an out of date manual, that has not been updated yet, it was only minor things though. But the answer to that one is ' put a loose leaf in the manual ' I will be interested to see what system Palette gets now. All the best and happy touring.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
We have had our Kingham about a month and 650 miles, the wireless Sat Nav/ rear camera was working until yesterday.
Apart from the camera needs adjusting I find the wiring strewn around annoying so may look for a better solution. However, the Sat nav itself is excellent.

This might actually be the reason, as to fit a wired system is a pain, whereas the bluetooth connection is far easier to setup from an installers point of view.
Could be the dealer fitted options pack is with the bluetooth and the factory fitted comes with the wiring built in, as this would be easier to install when putting the internals together.
I'd prefer wired, but it's not a big deal. The amount I need a reversing camera the bluetooth option has worked fine.

Re: Garmin reversing camera not working
I would imagine their all wired, they just need connecting.
As for the GPS 12v connection, in my Fiat based Bessacarr I connected to the back of the lighter socket and fed the gps
Connection under the document holder. I then used the doc holder the mount the gps.

I wrote to AS after sales last night for clarification about it. I am awaiting a reply and will post it when it comes. I would not be surprised if it turned out to be model specific, but we shall see.
