master electric switch location 1989 Ford leg
I can't find instructions how to locate where I switch on the main power to the Campervan as it is such an old, old model. Got the lead and socket adaptor for charging it at home but cannot find how to switch the current on within the van. Please help as this is my first van and I cannot find anyone nearby to ask. The problems of being old!

Thank you. There is a switch on the side of the passenger seat, but not sure if that is it and don't want to do anything dangerous. Do you know how long it would take with the lead connected tongave any signs if it was charging?

Thank you for trying. I will try to find a local garage that might help out.

Hi
We have a 1992 Executive and the main power for the habitation side is under the passenger seat. You have to have the passenger door open to see it as it is on the side of the seat. Our friends have a 1993 Clubman and it is in the same place. We do not need to switch on anything when we plug in the cable ( plug into the van first then into the supply) the electricity just starts working.
When we need to charge the vehicle battery we have to use a separate battery charger.
Hope this helps.

It really does help as that is exactly where there is a white switch, so I will give it a go. Thank you so much as I am hopeless with the very basics!

We test that the electricity is working by turning on the light that does not work on 12 volts. On Doris that is the wall light with the fancy glass shade.

Me again...losing the will!
New battery, but must have left the lights on somehow, so flat and had to call home recovery! Suggested I get a battery charger for future.
He wrote it down 12 volt battery charger... simple? No! What amps? No idea. Looking at Argos and there is. 4 amp, a 6 amp etc etc.
Help please.

It's not actually that critical. The lower the maximum Amp rating the longer it will take to recharge a battery, all other things being equal. But as long as the Amphour rating of your battery is within the range that the charger will accept, it will be fine.
Typically a leisure battery will have a capacity of maybe 80 Ah, so if you get one that will cope with that capacity you should be Ok.
If you're on a budget then the chargers sold by LIDL and Aldi can be really good value (usually around £15 each), but consensus is that they may not be ideal for long-term connection (probably not an issue for you though). However, they only have them in stock occasionally, so Halfords or similar may be the easiest option if you need one in a hurry.
