Re: ** PHOTOBUCKET FORUM ERROR **
...just deleted my avatar - which, along with all my other photo's stored on PB, has now vanished for good. Luckily, after a virus a long time ago which wiped off some important stuff, I always keep all my photo's on a memory stick rather than my laptops...so a new avatar can appear in due course, when everything has returned to normal.
I'm not very good with all modern tech stuff....so I can only imagine and appreciate the amount of hard work needed to rectify this problem - well done to those who look after this forum so efficiently !

Many thanks Ed,
You have saved the day, although I post very little I find I must get my forum fix as often as possible, I find the help offered is valuable and at sometimes very amusing.
Please keep up the good work.

Re: ** PHOTOBUCKET FORUM ERROR **
My thanks too for sorting this issue so quickly. I only have access to the forum via my iPad and as such, the PBucket images were blocking a lot of the text.
Thankfully Roli advised elsewhere, that the mobile version was the way to go until normal service resumed, something I hadn't considered.
It looks pretty normal at the moment, apart from a couple of member's avatars that are still showing the oversized PBucket image.

Thanks for the work going on behind the scenes, I imagine something like a swan where the top looks serene whilst the feet are going like a sewing machine below the waterline.
My avatar is hosted on photobucket, but it seems to be OK.
Please excuse my ignorance but who else gives free hosting of photos ?

I used to be with Photobucket but found their advertising becoming too invasive quite a while ago and then the problem with their phone app was the last straw so I decided I'd find a better site.
I moved over to Imgur, which is much better and offers a really nice and easy way to store your photo's and provides a simple link for forums.
I mark each one as private which removes it from their 'public area' and then you can simply post the link in a forum as usual and it will show fine.
The phone app is really easy too. As I take most of the pictures I post on forums on the phone, it's nice to be able to transfer them easily through the app and then get a link to post up with. Nice and quick now.

Re: ** PHOTOBUCKET FORUM ERROR **
Thanks Ed for all your hard work with this issue. As others have said, this site is invaluable and would be sadly missed. I have tended to use tinypics to input photos, but not for a long time. I have found photobucket a pain to use. I am happy to support any thoughts of contibuting to set up a photo base, but not as a Photobucket ransom!
Well done Ed

Yes good work done in getting rid of that PB junk cluttering the forum pages up. Must admit though since i've been on ASOF it's always remained junk free.

Hear, Hear to the comments above,

Many thanks to Admin for restoring the forum to it's former glory. I have to admit to withdrawal symptoms while it was photobucketed !

Re: ** PHOTOBUCKET FORUM ERROR **
Following all the crap caused by photo bucket I decided to look around some options and Im on a 14 day trial of smugmug and as far as transferring photos from my iPhone to the site its a doddle. Its going to cost $5 a month or $3.99 if I pay for a year, which i will probably do.

Hi
Zero cost (I trust you have the backed up somewhere else) but you can't post them on the forum from your computer unless it's configured as a web server.

Thanks Beetee. I admit I had to log into www.servimg.com which I must have registered with ages ago but have no problem. Sometimes I copy and paste if I canBeetee wrote:rose49f wrote:My photos are all on my computer. Cost Zero

Re: ** PHOTOBUCKET FORUM ERROR **
Hi
The point is that even if you don't use Photobucket you still need a similar host.
It's an important point because occasionally people have made the mistake of posting a link to their own computer and it seemed to work for them but the rest of us got an "Image Unavailable " message.
Brod
What you will have done is upload the picture to a host, and then posted a link to the host so that the forum loads the picture from there, not from your computer. If you do try and post a picture on your computer you'll be the only one that can see it.Beetee wrote:Hi, yes you can, I have just done it.
Ahh that means that your pictures (the ones you have posted on the forum) are on "Servimg" not on your computer although the picture uploaded to Servimg is a copy of the one on your computer. Incidentally I've just checked and the image you put in your last post is definitely on Servimg.rose49f wrote: I admit I had to log into www.servimg.com
