Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
Hi folks,
I've just taken delivery of my new Fairford.
And I'm so annoyed that the radio/media player turns off after 20 minutes when I'm not driving.
I see from a search on this forum back a few years that others have the same problem.
Did anyone find a solution to keep the radio/media player on whilst stationery?
Cheers!
Brian

Let me know how you get on. Also one question I'd like answering is if l put the radio isolater switch on while l am driving will it hurt my battery. Or is that what it is there for.

Re: Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
On Nuevos of our age Rose, the radio is wired through the leisure battery instead of the engine battery. Not sure therefore if the isolator switch is live when engine running as habitation electrics are cut off when engine on. Having said that, how does the radio work at all if wired through the leisure if habitation electrics are cut off when engine running? All rather confusing but the only definite thing I know is that the 20 minute cutoff cannot be altered on radios fitted our Nuevos.

I have a similar problem. It's a pain in the derrière but as I understand it the system partially shuts down when the vehicle is not in use. If you for example briefly press the hazzard button, or open a door that activates the vehicle and the radio works......at least for 20 mins!

If your OK with the sound quality just take a small 'tranni'.

Re: Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
Welcome to my world and once you've wasted your time trying all of the old fixes, you will return to square one and have a radio that switches off 20 minutes after the ignition is switched off.
The link above is from 2013 and has no relevance to the latest radios.
Ticking or unticking the box as above makes no difference to the ignition off duration that we all desire. Unticked, the radio switches off as soon as you turn the ignition off, ticked will allow the radio to stay on for 20 minutes and not a second longer.
You are looking at wiring the radio to a constant feed away from the ignition, or going down the independent radio/speaker route.
I do hope you succeed where I failed earlier this year, so that I can follow suit

Re: Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
Oh, and I forgot to mention, that after switching my radio back on 3 times, it goes into a code error, where I have to put the keys back in the ignition and turn them to ignition on, to clear the error

1) Turn radio on using power button. 2)Within 15 seconds simultaneously press FM AS & the preset button, each time these pair of buttons are pressed, the display will alternate between Normal mode & Camper mode(these must be pressed together for up to 5 seconds).3)Ensure that camper power mode is displayed, then press menu. 4)Using the up & down button now changes the display to show various adjustable items. Scroll through the options until Radio off & a number of minutes is shown on the display. This will take approx 2 presses of the up button or 7 presses of the down button. 5) With Radio off shown on the display press the left or right button. Each press of either button will alternate the number of minutes shown between 180 & 0. 6)With 180 showing on the display the setting is complete, & 3 hours of radio operation should be possible.Press the power button to exit the menu & return the display to its normal view.Fairford wrote:Hi folks,

Can you please indicate what year of van/radio you are referring to, as these instructions do not work on the new model that Brain is asking about.

Re: Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
X250 vans built to the Euro 5 standard can have their radio timings switched as described above, so that the radio either goes off with the ignition, stays on for 20 minutes, or stays on for 180 minutes. I have no experience with the X290 models and do not know if this mod works with them.
If you encounter the "code error" message on the radio display, it can be cleared by either, turning on the ignition or, opening a cab door or, turning the vehicle lights on and off again or, operating the hazard lights briefly. Curiously, locking or unlocking the cab doors has no effect.

Hi folks
please would you only refer to 2107 Euro 6 models with the Multimedia audio system with DAB/FM/AM radio in this post. Some posts are not referring to the original post and are confusing matters no end.
I re iterate, that as stated in my previous post I do not have the ' 20 minute off box ' ticked in the radio settings menu on my 2017 model, Euro 6 cab, with the above radio model fitted and it works for me. Leave the thing unticked. The radio has never switched off while driving and listening to it and also has never switched off while parked up while I am listening to it without the ignition on. I had the same model radio in my 2015 Peugeot/ Bailey cab and it worked the same.

Is your radio the same as mine....

If so, can I clarify that when you say that you remove the tick from the box in the picture, your radio stays on indefinitely when you switch your ignition off.
That is what I would like mine to do, but unfortunately on mine removing the tick causes the radio to switch straight off, when the ignition goes off. Ticking that box allows the radio to stay on for a period of 20 minutes after switching the ignition off, after which the radio switches itself off.
If yours stays on then it shows that there must be some way of overcoming the factory setup.

Re: Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
Hi folks me again
I went out to the van early this morning and decided to run a test on the radio, bearing in mind what Wargenwolf said. I ticked the 20 minute power delay checkbox and the radio sure enough did turn off after 20 mins. I then returned to the menu and unticked the check box. Doing that has buggered it up and now it turns off after 20 minutes regardless of how it is set. I had not touched my radio settings apart from tuning and setting up the bluetooth to the phone and I now wish I had left the ruddy thing well alone. I have a appointment at the factory on Friday 25th August to put right a couple of things the dealer cant fix. I will ask Mark about why the radio has gone like this and get an answer from him. So if you can wait until after that date we should have an answer.

Hi Wargenwolf. Yes it is but see my last post about what has happened. This is getting ridiculous.

Why are we asking these questions? Why cannot AS provide clear operating instructions? (come to think of it, why cannot Peugeot provide clear operating instructions?)
The above is not very helpful I admit, but why should we have to be asking each other such basic simple questions? Does no one from AS ever monitor this Forum?
Feel a bit better now.

This is something we would also like, but have been listening to the radio on the TV. To improve sound quality we have bought a BT speaker and a adapter.
But this would not have worked in the Elan Valley.

Re: Radio/Media 20 minute cut off override?
There's no point in running a separate supply voltage to the radio because that will make no difference.
The radio detects whether it is receiving a battery 12V or alternator 14V. If it receives 12V after 20 minutes it switches off - nothing you can do about it other than change the radio (which I done on a brand new van).
I also don't get why AS give you speakers in the rear that switch off after 20 minutes!

Lateral Thinking
I use the radio channels on freeview or satellite with a bluetooth connected speaker to the tv that I can locate alongside me.
