Which child seats will fit?
I suspect that I am not alone in chosing a motorhome having four seatbelts in order to accommodate two young grandchildren with us on our travels. In our case, we have a forward-facing bench seat in the Nuevo, which has two lap/diagonal belts. There is no isofix fitting, so child seats will have to be restrained by the seat belts. The time has come for me to buy two suitable seats (we have one Britax rotating isofix in the car, which is wonderful, and crunchingly expensive, and cannot be used in the Nuevo as no isofix.)
Taking into account the slight projection of the window blinds' frame, it seems as if the maximum available width of the rear bench seat is some 40cms. One child is aged 3, the other a beefy 1. I want to buy a pair of identical seats which will serve until such time as they can use a booster cushion. The law is commendably tight - https://www.gov.uk/child-car-seats-the-rules/using-a-child-car-seat-or-booster-seat
I wonder whether Forum members have any recommendations, please, before I start investigating at Halfords?
Thanks.

Best to take your van to Halfords and ask there. Laws on child seats are always changing. Best to be sure

Re: Which child seats will fit?
No sooner said than done! Went to Halfords today. Very helpoful. BUT:
Given that the useable width of the bench seat (which has the 2 seatbelts) is 80 cms [sorry - not the 40 I said in original post], and given that the narrowest seat is 40cms, and given that there is a requirement (say Halfords but I haven't checked the law) that there must be a gap of "four fingers' width" between two adjacent seats (to avoid lateral transmission of movement of one seat in collision affecting the other) - then all that adds up to the fact that you cannot fit 2 child seats on the bench of a Nuevo.
But I don't want to have to put one child seat in the front if I can avoid it.
Surely there's a safe and lawful solution?

Hi Cymro
Put "Double child car seat" into Google. There seem to be several options, though I couldn't see exactly what you require.
I presume such seats would not be easily removable for transporting the children on a buggy, but it would keep them safe if it will fit into your 80 cms of width.
There's a firm in Birmingham that does 3 and 4 seat version, and I guess they may be able to help even if they don't do a two seater.

Re: Which child seats will fit?
We have a Halfords own make high back booster, didn't fit at all well in the back of our Symbol, so grand-daughter sat in the front. Nain (or Mamgu) in the back. Fits fine on the rear bench seat of our current (non AS) van.

Re: Which child seats will fit?
Have been experimenting. The Halfords seat is OK alone on the bench, provided it's not next to the side of the van (where it would be very awkward to put the seatbelt in the socket). But impossible to fit 2 alongside each other.
Followed up Google for a dual seat - no such thing. Triples - yes; even fours. But no doubles - because it's assumed that all cars will have room for at least 2 seats side-by-side. Not so in a Nuevo!
So I suspect that as you suggested, Nain, it'll be one in the fornt and one in the rear. Now will Tadcu or Mamgu be driving...!

Re: Which child seats will fit?
Bumping this old thread to ask a question about putting a child booster seat in the front.
I've just bought the booster seat from Halfords so I can take my friend's young son out in the Pollensa. I know you're not supposed to use it in the front because of the air bag.
I'm assuming it would be too simple just to remove the air bag fuse to get around this but what are the problems with this exactly? Obviously I'm aware it would also disable the driver's air bag!

Re: Which child seats will fit?
I thought all front passenger airbags could be disabled by a switch for when rear-facing baby seats are used on the front seat.
I know the last 3 cars I've owned have had this facility.

Isn't switch off/disable only for rear facing child seats? https://www.childcarseats.org.uk/choosing-using/airbags-and-child-seats/

@ bikeralw - Yeah I looked for such a switch but couldn't find one. I am still finding new things after a month of ownership though so you never know! No mention in the manual.
@ PLOUGHLIN - I thought the same but the instructions say otherwise. I don't get it myself but it specifically says "Never put booster seat on front seat if an airbag is fitted".
