Blood on upholstery
Just back from a weekend away and unfortunately we've had a bit of an accident and got blood on Each of the rear bench seat squabs in our 2016 Fairford. Our attempt at cleaning them with soapy water and a wet vacuum shows a massive improvement, but the stains are still visible.
I am looking at replacing the squabs but does anyone have suggestions while I wait for a price for the replacements?
Thanks

Dilute solution of dishwasher liquid/powder is supposed to be good, dabbed on and off until it goes.

Re: Blood on upholstery
Initially it is worthwhile to remove much as possible with clean white absorbent cloth dampened with tap water, dabbing action rather than wiped so as not the spread the contamination further. The fabric now fairly wet, apply sufficient table salt that hopefully will absorb any remaining water carrying the stain. Allow the salt to thoroughly dry, thereafter simply brush or vacuum away. Used to give similar advice to patients who's clothing was contaminated with blood to immerse clothing in a bowl of cold salted water as soon as possible. If blood is allowed to dry, it's likely to cause an immovable rust stain in the fibres.

Re: Blood on upholstery
TI've got a price for replacements just shy of £740
I've also spoken to premier furnishings who are sending some cleaner they use and a quote to recover the seat bases, premier furnishings make the upholstery for autosleeper.
Fingers crossed
Thanks for the suggestions I think the message has to be use a mattress cover if you have to sleep on you seating.

....we NEVER have red wine in the van...it's just not worth the risk....over the years there have been (mercifully) few liquid accidents on our upholstery, without any long term stains.
...we save the red for home, where the effect of one too many doesn't pose the same risk

Yes, I've made the same decision after spilling red wine on my upholstery and carpet in the van. Luckily I acted quickly and there was no stain on the upholstery just a bit on the carpet which I eventually managed to get rid of after a lot of work.

Hi , we keep a bottle of "wine away" which we got from Lakeland, it works, the red wine turns a pale yellow and then just washes out ,but I must add that we always have "throws" protecting our seats![ learnt that during our early years in M/Hs] best of luck with your stains!! Regards Paul

Re: Blood on upholstery
White wine gets the red wine stain out, did that years ago, when on having a brand new caravan, first dinner in it the first time out, my husband knocked his wine glass over, all over the table and settee, I immediately grabbed the white wine and poured it on the red, then dabbed with kitchen towels. when dry not a stain left.

Thanks for your support with this ive managed to get the marks out using Mrs Coopers Best mattress stain remover. Spray it on and let it dry and the stains left after the initial cleaning are gone.

Re: Blood on upholstery
...that sounds good...might get some and keep it in the van - if stains are best removed when fresh, no good having cleaning items back at home.
