Water heater
Just returned from Wales after three weeks without hot water. ( sites do have showers before the comments).
Had to bypass the water connections to get the water system functioning.
I am now thinking of replacing the carver with a newer unit, perhaps Truma or the new Whale.
Has anyone replaced their carver? What are the problems?
I had problems with the carver on my previous van and dont particularly want to go through the hassle of repairing yet another one.

This article outlines replacing the Carver with a Henry (or similar model) and sounds easy to do.

Re: Water heater
Another alternative is the Malaga heater from Propex which they claim is an easy swop. Take a look at the propexheatsource website.

Re: Water heater
I've replaced a Carver heater on a previous van with a Malaga heater, found it easy to do and fits into the same space. They make a conversion plate for the outside of the van to cover the hole left by removing the carver as the exhaust outlet is a different shape.
Only downside is that it can't be run solely on electric, but only on gas or gas and electric.

1997 Autosleeper Symphony 12v Fuse Blowing
The 25amp fuse next to the leisure battery relays under the driver's seat keeps blowing on my 1997 Peugeot Boxer Autosleeper Symphony van. I've not been able to run the van on the road for over a year due to mechanical problems but I start the engine and test the systems occasionally. I can't be sure how and when this happens, I only notice it after I've not turned the electric on for a while. I usually find the 12v system is not working so I assume the battery is flat because the van hasn't been run. I charge it via the outside cable socket but the 12v power still doesn't come on at all, so I check the fuse and find it's blown again. I've done this about four times now and after I replace the fuse, the system is OK until the next time I try it, perhaps a couple of months later. What could be causing the fuse to blow? Any help appreciated. Cheers, Martyn.

Thanks for the replies so far.
Unless there are earlier models out there it would seem that they are 35cm wide.
this is much bigger than the available space where the carver is.
May still have to recondition the existing unit.
