Weight of Mk 7 ('08 build) Duetto
Front axle 1240kg,
Rear axle 1300kg,
F&R 2600kg, (he must have done before I got out!!)
So according to the guide Pressures/axle loads for 215 75 R 16 C tyres
Tyre size, load index, 36psi 40psi 44psi 48psi 51psi 54psi 57psi 60psi
215/75 R 16 C, 113, 1376 1485 1614 1719 1801 1904 1984 2064
That's 36psi Fronts and 36psi Rears
BUT in order to allow for holiday/passenger loading I recon
40psi Fronts
45psi Rears
Should do.
At present I am running 45ish Fronts 50ish rears.
Will drop them to the above and see how it goes.

Hi Fred. I like these tyre threads. Very sensible.
I don't know your plate figures. You are on 3.4 ton going down to 3.1 ton on those figures.

Micky

I would be careful Ricky, when I put new tyres on our (older) Duetto (same as you had at the time) it was wallowing all over the M6 - scary. I phoned the suppliers from the van and had to up the pressures by at least 5 psi.

Hi Peter. Thats sounds like something wrong elsewhere to me. Possible road camber /ruts from lorries?. A 5 lb change from a normal pressure should be unnoticed in every day use.
I have seen people driving with a nearly flat tyre without notice until i told them!!
I had a puncture on my BMW 5 series years ago at Le Mans coming back to site. It was hardly noticed until i stopped and looked.

Re: Weight of Mk 7 ('08 build) Duetto
Funny you said that Peter, when I put new tyres on the Mk6 Duetto the tyre manufacturer
advised not to reduce the fronts below 45psi.
As I said at the moment, without the holiday loading, she runs well at 45/50 ish. so we will see
when next away.
The tyres on at present are Bridgestone R623,s
These tyres are 8ply, those on the Topaz were Hankook 6ply and gave a very smooth ride.
6 ply don't seem to be advocated /available for the 3500kg Mk7 Transit, though I suppose it is more 'rough used' than the lighter 3200kg T5 chassis

No. definitely tyre pressures - I stopped at the next services and increased each tyre by 5psi and they were fine from then on.

Duetto mk7 tyre pressures
When half way through our trip I reduced the Tyre pressures to
41psi Fronts and 46 Rear (from 45F & 50R) and the mk7 Duetto traversed the Loch Ness A82 fine, though I did have to keep a sharp eye out for other m/van wing mirrors on this and other Highland roads!!
