Rear suspension
I have a Sussex Duo on Peugeot boxer. The rear suspension has the standard leaf spring which is clamped to the cross member. Under this, closer to the ground, there is another leaf which is bolted to the cross member and has a rectangular block of rubber on either end. One of these has come off and i am unable to resolve the problem. A/S say it is a Peugeot part. Peugeot dealers cannot find it on their exploded diagrams and customer care are asking me to take it to a dealer but as is the way if the world this is an 80 mile round trip.
Can anyone help?

Re: Rear suspension
Yes back axle. Sorry.
For better or worse I have moved into the wilds of Wensleydale, North Yorks. Every larger town is at least an hour away, but it is glorious to be able to be here
I have contacted three dealerships including my servicing dealership back in Manchester, but no luck in identifying the part.
Does anyone else have this second lower leaf on their van?

Re: Rear suspension
Yes we have it on our 2013 build Boxer (making a 2014 Warwick Duo) and I have never seen the rubber blocks in contact with the main leaf spring (see: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: Rear suspension
Spospe,
Thank you. That thread makes interesting reading and raises a few questions.
If the extra leaf is added at the same time as the Al Ko air tops is it an Al Ko part, a Peugeot part or an A/S part and what is its purpose?
My lack of progress in solving this matter is becoming concerning as the MOT is due soon and I am not sure if this a fail point.
I am taking the van to my nearest dealer tomorrow so I will see what they have to say.

If you're concerned about the MOT, might I suggest that you pose your question here:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
This forum is 'manned' by MOT testers who are more likely to give you an accurate reply than most people on here. [Apart from at least one member who is an MOT tester but whose name I cannot remember - Sorry!]

Re: Rear suspension
My understanding, based on what Spinney Motorhomes told me, is that the extra spring is a Peugeot part specified by A-S.pootler wrote:

Re: Rear suspension
Ah ha, the plot thickens.
To think all that I wanted to do was buy the replacement part.
Still I suppose a trip to Northallerton and Betty's cannot be all bad.
Thanks again.

Re: Rear suspension
Could take it to the garage you intend to use for an mot, and ask them if it would fail on that piece being absent, because if its not required, you could then replace it at your leisure.

Its just the fact that you know its missing that irritates you, and subsequently needs replacing, for your peace of mind.pootler wrote:Thanks, I am going there after Northallerton.

Liken it to decorating a room, and there is a flaw in the wallpaper you've put up..........nobody else notices it, but its the first thing your eyes go to, when you
enter.

Re: Rear suspension
Damn right.
Now where was I?
I suppose someone at A/S must specify the base vehicle from Peugeot. Therefore that person must know the part. Now what's the phone number?

Re: Rear suspension
The vans are indeed ordered in by AS with the extra leaf. Its either in the sales literature or on the web site

Re: Rear suspension
I contacted Mark in the Service Centre, again, and it would appear that there is someone else out there who has the same problem. His research apparently has found that you cannot get the pad but need to buy the complete leaf costing much money.
So I went to my MOT garage and it is not a problem. All I shall do is source a piece of rubber that I put in its place.
Thanks everyone.

What does it look like? If you post a couple of photos on here, someone might be able to come up with an alternative.

Hi ,
I think you may find that years ago this was called an" Helper Spring" which may help you when you are making enquiries about your
suspension springs.
