habitation air conditioning
I need the air con to be working as I have three dogs and they can stay in the home safely when I go to places where dogs are forbidden

"I have a domectic 1000 which is not working properly, but I am having trouble finding a service engineer. The domctic website is out of date so of little use. any help?"
Which Dometic website are you using? I just tried this one and it seems to be working Ok.
http://www.dometic.co.uk/service/dealerlocator/
If the dealer list is out of date then I guess the easiest solution would be to go to the "Contact Us" section of the Service menu, which has phone number, email address and postal address.

Re: habitation air conditioning
I've seen several comments on ASOF where owners with habair say that it isn't very effective. What should one expect if it is working correctly and how long can it work off hook up?

SDA, I don't think my i-net is set up correctly but the Truma hab a/c ONLY works on mains. I have only tried it briefly but it certainly blasts cold air and will waft warm air too .

So presumably if it only works on mains it's no good for keeping dogs cool whilst unattended, unless it's powered off an inverter? That's what prompted the second part of my question.

I s'pose the noise of the generator won't be heard over the race engines. I hated staying on showgrounds etc when we used to show the beardies as the constant drone and fumes from generators was horrible to live with.

It's a while since I last looked at the specs, but if the 1000 in the product name means 1kW input power then if you're using an inverter that's a load of 80-100 Amps on the leisure battery - so it would be roughly 1 hour runtime if it's running continuously (which in very hot weather it probably would be), assuming you run the battery down to perhaps a quarter its capacity left - so you don't trash it immediately.
I don't think a typical leisure battery would last long driving that sort of load, and you would ~probably~ need a top quality traction battery, or you would be replacing it every few cycles.

I thought that might be the case so I'm left wondering what the OP's first post meant. Is he saying that's what he does, or is he asking for advice, it's not really clear.

The OP is the victim of the forum "feature" that allows you to enter text as a subtitle to the thread, but that subtitle is then not displayed when you view the message. The OP's actual question is the bit in quotes at the start of my first reply - essentially they believe that the aircon requires a service and want to know who to contact.

Ah, I see what you mean, the sub title only appears on the section index and as I often go from 'home screen' to 'latest new post' which misses out the section index I hadn't spotted it.
