fridge on gas Empty fridge on gas

I have recently had a habitation check done and the guy told me that the fridge wont work on gas as the "switch" behind the fridge had coroded. Its fine on battery and hook up. I dont do much wild camping but I was wondering if anyone has had the same trouble and how much it cost to replace
