Gas fridge Empty Gas fridge

Post by Sailingsax999 Fri Jul 22, 2016 1:18 pm

We have a 1994  Duetto.
The only thing that gives us a problem is running the fridge on gas.
The automatic igniter will work one day then will go on strike the next
My question is ,as I have had two gas engineers look at it and have got it going only for it to stop as they have left,
Is it time for a new fridge  or could a manual ignition switch be easily be fitted?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I believe that spare igniter modules are available for Electrolux fridges. I've not had to change mine yet, but I have had metallic debris from the flue fall onto the burner jet and short out the igniter probe to earth causing sparking to occur outside of the flame zone. It's not impossible to think that a total short could occur so no clicking could be heard? If the shorting media were mobile then this might account for the intermittent behaviour you observed.

So I'd say there's no need to swap the fridge, but a flue clean-out, a new burner unit and a check of where the spark path occurs might be of benefit.
