Broadway cab curtains: how fixed ?
I fancy making a set of cab curtains to cosy the place up on cold nights and hide the dashboard etc.
Please can anyone who already has some tell me how they are fixed to the cloth covered shelf that runs round above the front of the cab ? I am not convinced that standard curtain track would be flexible enough to bend around the angles in question.
Thanks

Hi Chris just seen your post, I am going in for minor surgery on my elbow tomorrow so can't help at the moment, but if you get no replies by Wednesday I will photo our set up on our Broadway EB and post for you.

Bless you John, that's very kind. I do hope the surgery goes well but make sure you're properly fit again before you even think of taking photos.
I've got to nerve myself up to cut into the big ready made Dunelm Mills curtains I've bought to do the cab and sides before I'm ready to hang them so no rush at all.

Hi Chris hope you can understand the photos, I've had a new iPad and learning how to use it. Somehow I've repeated the photos.
The fixings are three across the front and one at each end by the door.
I hope that they help you out.
John.

Apologies if I've deleted more than the duplicates.

This is from Chris' other half. Thank you for the pictures which are very helpful. Can I clear up one point that is difficult to see. Is the slot in which the runners slide vertical as in normal curtains or horizontal as in the window curtains.
Many thanks.
Robert

Re: Broadway cab curtains: how fixed ?
Good news John.
Don't worry about the slot, I think I can see what to do. We're getting a bit caught up in this, not realising that the curtain rail cannot be bought in an ordinary shop and bent to fit but has to be pre-ordered and formed at the factory so measurements are critical. I rather think I can see where AS' s quote of £ 100 to fit the rails only was coming from.

Update on my last post: I'm told John that, from what R can see, AS have not used the Silent Gliss rail, which is small and discreet but can only be bent into a U shape by the makers after you let them have detailed measurements. If it is wanted in straight pieces, as most people do want it, then no problem. Before we got your photos we were looking at using Silent Gliss and we were going to fix it directly under the shelf. There is Super Glide, which we are assured we can bend ourselves, but it is much chunkier and more obvious. Don't get me started on popper tapes and whether they can be bought pre-perforated or have to be machine perforated....!

Re: Broadway cab curtains: how fixed ?
We had curtains on all windows and the screen of our Transit PVC and the track was very flexible around curves and bump and discrete. It was fitted as part of the initial build by Horizons Unlimited (now known as Vectra Motorhomes) of Tamworth. That suggests that any competent converter should be able to supply and if necessary fit track for you. Certainly the Pegg's (owners of Vectra) would be a good source of advice and maybe the product too. Could be worth a phone call.

Re: Broadway cab curtains: how fixed ?
Thanks both; David: the snag with the curtain track you link to David is that it comes only in straight ( 2.4 m) lengths and the supplier says that it is not flexible enough to bend and stay bent in the shape we want it. It can be done, but at the factory which they do not deal with.
Autosleepers will do ours Andy but they quoted £100 for the rail and fitting alone earlier this year and, at the time, we thought that was too much and we could easily do it ourselves. Knowing what we do now though it does not seem too unreasonable !
We've put the project on pause for the moment and will come back to it before winter.
Thanks again all

Sounds a bit like jobs for the boys to me.
Just a thought but do you have a mate who is a plumber they I would expect would be able to bend the rail with the same jigs they use for pipe bending, or that taking lateral thinking too far.
David

Good thinking David...many years ago my OH put central heating into our first house. I wonder if he kept all the pipe bending thingies ? Hmmm...
