Sink replacement with glass sink.
I have an A.S Cotswold and like many others in the Auto Sleepers range I have a round counter top mounted acrylic wash bowl in the bathroom.
I dropped something on mine from the shelf above and chipped it a bit. Not drastically but I decided to replace it.
I fancied a proper job glass one so I bought a lovely frosted glass bowl of the same dimensions.
Very prompt next day delivery and extremely easy to install as a direct replacement. It took about 5 minutes or so to remove the existing one and replace it. I fancied a coloured glass sink but she that must be obeyed decided on a frosted glass one and I am glad she did. The existing waste fitted easily. (I think they call those which you press to open and close a click, clack waste)
I know it will affect the payload a bit but not by much and I have plenty of spare payload capacity anyway.
I found that the acrylic one also flexed a little bit which I guess is normal. So if you damage the acrylic sink A/S will of course sell a replacement but you may want to consider a glass one if you have spare payload.
All the other motorhomes I have had, had a bespoke built in sink in the bathroom and which would be have been difficult to replace with a purpose built moulded sink. The one on my last M/home (a Euramobil) got stained and I could not get another one sourced not even from Euramobil in Germany and I would have had to dismantle the whole assembly to replace it anyway.
If I new how to post a pic. I would but in my mind it really looks great. I might try unless someone could give me a clue how its done.

Re: Sink replacement with glass sink.
Thanks for that, I don't think anyone will be interested but I will try just so as I learn for the future.
Thanks Dave.
Thanks Dave.

Re: Sink replacement with glass sink.
Hi Chudders, do you know the weight of your glass sink? Looks very smart, not sure if we could afford to compromise our payload. Regards

Re: Sink replacement with glass sink.
After I posted the pic. I thought someone might ask the weight. Unfortunately I did not weigh it before installing as I new I had plenty of payload excess. I have sent an email to the suppliers and asked, if not then I will remove it and weigh it and put it back it is not difficult to do but of course I would prefer not to. Sods law says I will drop it even though it is tempered glass.
Watch this space
I would hazard a gues at about 5 Kg,s. The acrylic one weighs just over half a Kg so you do need 4 or 5 kG's of payload and I am aware that some are close to their limit already and is presumably why A/S use lightweight acrylic.
I have also removed more than that in weight from stuff I have never used on the motorhome

Re: Sink replacement with glass sink.
Grateful thanks Dave, yes your estimate of weight seems logical. Regards

Re: Sink replacement with glass sink.
Further to the above weight question. I have had a reply from the suppliers and been told that the 31 cm frosted glass sink weighs approx. 3 Kg,s. So the acrylic sink being removed being about half a Kg thats a net overall weight increase of about 2 1/2 Kg,s.
If anyone is thinking of changing I would advise them to contact the suppliers regarding weight for themselves if it is critical. I am happy to say where I got it but don't want to be seen as having any involvement withe the company other than being a very happy customer.
