Replace gas oven with microwave?
I'd like to remove the gas oven and replace it with a microwave, has anyone else done this?

Re: Replace gas oven with microwave?
I did it on my current (non A/S) Celex. What type/size is the existing oven? If it's just a small "warming oven" then there are not that many microwaves that will fit in the space. If it's a full-size one then I doubt you will have any issues. You will probably want to get someone gas authorised to cap off the existing supply to the oven - though strictly I don't think it's mandatory to do that in a camper van.

Thanks. I don't know the oven size offhand, but it's the standard symphony oven. I did look for microwaves to store *indide* the oven but that was a non-starter, hence the thought of taking the oven out completely. I would Def get it done by someone qualified.

Re: Replace gas oven with microwave?
Having looked for quite a while, I found that microwave sizes can be quite deceptive! Even quite shallow ones can be deeper than they first appear...
The only one that I could find to fit the space in mine was a Daewoo QT1, and even then it was quite a tight fit.
IMO you don't need any special qualifications to fit one - it didn't cause me any great difficulty, though I fitted a drop-down front panel as I personally don't like to have something like that visible when it's not in use, and that was a bit fiddly to get the hinges exactly right.

Re: Replace gas oven with microwave?
When fitting a microwave into an enclosed space, don't forget that you need to allow specified minimum clearance space around it for air circulation to prevent overheating.
When I installed ours in the space formerly allocated as a cupboard above the drinks cabinet in our Pollensa, as well as removing the doors I also fitted ventilation grilles.
It's also important to ensure that it is fitted in such a way as to prevent such a heavy object from becoming a dangerous mass projectile in the event of heavy braking or a collision.
