Leaky side Windows on 2015 symbol
Has anyone experienced the opening windows on the new style symbol leaking, reluctant to have them replaced if no modifications in place. Sealed at the mo with black insulation tape.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Bridlington, I take it your van is still under warranty? Worth a call to the dealership first.

Thanks-The dealership will replace the windows. But we know of someone who has had them replaced and still has the problem. We are looking for a modification if there is one. The other option is to seal them shut, but that would be permanent.

Hi and welcome from a very windy Malvern. Has your dealer spoken to AS to see if there is an issue with the Symbol generally, if so, is there a fix in place.

I think the symbol started life as a Peugeot window van ? Maybe your local Peugeot dealership could advise?P&K wrote:Thanks-The dealership will replace the windows. Re: Leaky side Windows on 2015 symbol
I think your Symbol uses the current X250 / X290 Boxer and if this is the case, leaks have been common in the past due to the drain holes in the side windows becoming blocked with mastic. If you have a look and a poke about with a bit of stiff wire, maybe you can resolve things?

Thanks, we have tried to find the drain holes but cannot find any. When it leaks the water wets all the inside trim, so don't think there should be any, otherwise it would wet the trim, but thanks anyway.

The drain holes are at the opening end of the sliding windows and are square(ish) in shape.

Re: Leaky side Windows on 2015 symbol
We have a 2014 Symbol, our windows are OK.
HOWEVER
We had a couple of VW Californias before this van and the sliding windows leaked on both of them.
We resolved the issue by smearing silicone grease around the rubber seal (use a cotton bud to get all the way round) particularly along the lower part of the seal.
It worked for us and as you say, we also knew other VW owners who had their windows replaced and they still leaked. Never liked the idea of having the windows changed myself.
Worth a try
