Warwick XL fuse locations.
First trip in the Warwick, bought used from Brownhills just over a week ago. Decided to drive the North Coast 500 in Scotland- Google it!
Second day, having overnighted in Dingwall, decided to check tyre pressures before setting off for Applecross over "that" road, using the tyre pump recommended in the ASOC magazine. Blew fuse on both dashboard socket and cigarette lighter - now no power for sat nav.
Checked the Peugeot manual to find that not one diagram represented what we had in front of us. Local dealers too busy to help but eventually found a work-round using the USB connector impossibly located in the central glove box.
Phoned Brownhills whose tech told me that there is another fuse box in the engine compartment on Fiats, and to check fuses 14 and 15.
Found the fuse box, but impossible to get into owing to unreachable bolts...
On getting home, discovered that the near side headlamp unit has to be removed - one T 30 Torx and a metric hex key then slide left after disconnecting the cable (remove the sliding grey clip). Then release a cable straddling the box from its clip. Undo three nylon cross point fittings and you're in!
14 and 15 were the culprits, rated at 15 amps... So as the pump is rated at 14, what gives?
This is not a fix for a dark roadside, nor a rainy day! What a daft place to mount such fuses. And why is the Peugeot manual wrong? Across inter-web land, there are several forums screaming for the fuse location info... So, here it is.

Re: Warwick XL fuse locations.
I've just skimmed through the last couple of years ASOC Newsletters and can't find a bit about pumps/compressors what make/model is it?
The higher capacity compressors have croc clips for connection direct to the battery as the current demand is higher than most accessory sockets. The exception being the Mercedes system that comes with a 25amp accessory socket and a powerful compressor.

The article was about tyre pressures, as I recall, and was at the back of the issue. The pump is a Heyner Bigair 40 which worked fine in my 09 Symbol... The author had tried other pumps and this was the only one to get up to motorhome pressures.

The label on the device states 14 amps...
Was the Symbol socket rated differently, given the fact it worked in the old bus?

Re: Warwick XL fuse locations.
It could have been or maybe a slow blow fuse. Plus if you run the engine, as you should, the alternator voltage of the new van may be higher causing a higher current.

Re: Warwick XL fuse locations.
Given all of this - plus needing to make up an extension lead to reach the back of the van - would I be better served by soldering some heavy duty Croc clips and using the under bonnet battery connectors used for jump starting?

I do have a life other than the forum and am sometimes away for weeks at a time.
If your compressor has an internal fuse then just add the croc clips. If it doesn't or you are uncertain get an 'inline' blade fuse holder and fuse rated at 20Amps and fit than in the +ve lead.
