T5 factory fitted alarm
I would appreciate help with an alarm problem (factory fitted) in my 2005 T5 Topaz. Despite trying every conceivable approach I am unable to lock the van doors from the inside without also setting the alarm. The result is that, after the first couple of minutes, any movement within the van results in all hell breaking loose! We feel a bit insecure sleeping in an unlocked van, particularly on CLs when we might be the only van on site.
Has any other Topaz owner solved this dilemma?

On many T5s with factory alarms there should be a two-way switch on the B-pillar, above the driver's right shoulder. Do you have any controls there?
If not, on the older models I'm certain it's possible, but can't quite recall how. I ~think~ if you press the lock button on the dash it single-locks the doors (i.e. does not deadlock so that occupants can escape in the case of fire) and leaves the alarm disabled. If you've tried that, it would be worth searching the VWt4forum security section, as I know it's been asked there before.

Re: T5 factory fitted alarm
Some of the VAG group cars have a switch low down on the door pillar to turn off the internal sensors for when you may leave a dog inside, may be the same for yours.
I have the same problem with the aftermarket alarm (Cobra) fitted on the Nuevo although there is a rather complicated procedure to disable it, it's a real nuisance, so I've fitted Heosafe internal locks.

Thanks to Mojo and Paul. I'll pursue these suggestions.
