T5 Trident 12v supply problem. Empty T5 Trident 12v supply problem.

Post by stupot75 Wed Jul 22, 2015 6:51 pm

Hi All, hope someone can help please?

I have recently purchased a 55 plate Trident.

It seems that when I disconnect from mains supply I have issues switching to the leisure battery. The first time it happened I removed all the blade fuses and reseated them and had a general play with the rcd's etc and the lights started to work. Unfortunately I don't know what made the difference.
Today while checking the van I came off the mains and now cannot get the lights to work from the leisure battery.
Fitted is a PSU2005 charger and the control panel left hand switch has option for leisure battery (down) and vehicle battery (up).

Is there something I should be doing to switch over?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thankyou. Could it be as simple as a fuse? There are some under the bonnet-is one of these for a relay that swaps supply over?

Thanks

Hi there,

It might be even more simple than that ....

.... some lights are designed to be run on 12v supply and others are designed to run on 230V supply.

They will all work when the EHU is on though!

Alternatively, there will be a Master Switch somewhere.  If that is touched/hit and knocked off then things won't work.

We once nailed ours with a tin of Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pie and it took ages to find! tap_fingers tap_fingers

Hope this helps. allthumbz

Best regards,

As a first step can you tell me what the voltage of the leisure battery is when you are not connected to the mains?

I recently had a similar problem, turned out to be the middle relay of the 3 relays located in the engine bay on the passenger side above the battery. Found the problem by switching on the lights normally run off the leisure battery (no lights coming on) and then gently tapping the relays, I found that tapping the middle relay made the lights flicker on and off. Sourced new relay from Maplins.   5 Pin 40A 12V relay Part Number AR32K. Hope this helps
