Speedo and rev counter reading wrong
Hi,
A week or so ago I noticed our van showed we were doing about 8mph when stationary. Now the rev counter is reading about 1000rpm to high both with the engine off and driving. Has anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions to the likely problem/solution?
Thanks
jonny

Re: Speedo and rev counter reading wrong
Hi,
While I have no immediate answer, a check on google seems to suggest that this is a common fault across many varied vehicles. The common advice seems to be to disconnect battery for a while to see if it will reset, and if not to take it into the vehicles dealership (ie Ford, Peugot etc).
I did read that one guy took his car for a short drive to see if it would sort itself out, only to find 25,000 miles were somehow added to his odometer! ouch!!
