Dougal's Back.
Dougal is back "yeah!" At last our Dougal Duetto is back home, and looking great!.
We sent him in to a local welder last September, and we said we wanted every spot of rust doing, and replace with new metal where needed, and was lead to believe we would have him back before Christmas, then January, February, March, April, May, June and finally true to his word it arrived in July lol, we had got to the stage of thinking will we ever see Dougal again, but seeing him now it was well worth it, it wasn't cheap £1450.00p but what a job you can not see where any of the new sections were put in its just like new. We have got to connect the water heater again as he had to remove it to do the section under the vent, not sure how easy that will be, so might get some quotes for attaching it again and getting it serviced.
The chap who did the work said he got his son to take loads of photos and he will pass them on to me soon, and as soon as he does I'll put them on our website "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]"
So now we can start planing some trips away again in our lovely Dougal.

Great news. Very much enjoyed a browse round your website, too; inspiring
Look forward to the additional photos - always interested to see what can be achieved by a good welder.

Re: Dougal's Back.
May I suggest that you get all the 'insides' of the new parts rustproofed in some way, as new parts will only have the minimal paint to prevent corrosion from new.
Welding of the new parts will burn off this paint which will quickly rust, even from new, sills, wheel-arches etc. usually rust from the inside anyway, so a good 'flooding' with something like dinitrol, waxoyl via a tube or lance will go a long way to preventing this.

Re: Dougal's Back.
Thanks Modelman, yeah we are getting it booked in to be under sealed and the guy who did the welding treated Each part as he was doing the job, so hopefully it should be well covered.
