Fiamma Caravanstore for Symphony
Does anyone use or know if it's possible to have a removable Caravanstore awning on an Autosleeper Symphony. My concern is that it may impede the sliding door when not in use and in the holder bag.

Re: Fiamma Caravanstore for Symphony
...I use a Caravanstore on my VW T5 Trooper, the awning rail is just above the wide black plastic moulding, the bag itself rests on it - fine when travelling, but when the bag is open it just about touches the top of the sliding door....so what I do is zip up to the
awning edge to minimise the droop at each end, then about half way down I turn the bag edge into itself, and secure with....a clothes peg !
Main advantage for me is being able to remove the awning when not needed. I keep mine indoors.
Never trust a couple of pegs in the feet, always use a tie-down strap otherwise any bit of wind and it will end up over the van roof.

Ok thanks for that. Did you have to get an additional awning rail fitted for the Caravanstore ? I realise it's a small diameter rail that's required.

...it's just a standard "c" section rail...there was one already on the van, although I did buy another one and cut a section to make it longer as my first Caravanstore wasn't as long as I wanted - it was a 190, now I've got a 225, just about the right length for a T5 van.

Thanks for the info. We'll probably go for the Caravanstore.

....your van will be longer than a VW T5, you'll need to measure the available length for a rail and decide what size awning to get - mine is a foot less than the rail, leave space for two securing pawls.
I find the 225 size just about right, any longer and you might need a rafter pole to support the material - remember the proper Fiamma F45 casing awnings have the folding arms, which can stop any sagging.
Mine was s/h from ebay £120, but not many available in the smaller sizes, most are a lot larger as they are really designed for caravans.

Thanks again. We'll try and get one s/h. Taking delivery of the van in early July and will make sure the rail is correct in length and placement before then. Might have to go for new if a s/h doesn't show up.

...also, don't be tempted to fix the rail on just with self-tappers - whilst the rail itself weighs next to nothing, there will be about 10 kg literally hanging from it and it would spoil your day if it came off and caused a pile-up.
Being a "c" section means very small screws to fit...so play safe and use an adhesive as well. You will need one made for automotive use, to cope with temperature fluctuations - not a household diy glue.
The best and most well known is Sikaflex - but beware, there are quite a few different types with different numbers, for different uses. I play safe and use the alternative, of which there is only the one type - Tiger Seal.
Not too easy to find though, mine came from ebay. Wear plastic gloves, it is quite capable of sticking fingers together seriously.
There are a number of Fiamma websites which will give full dimensions of all the different sizes, might be of some help to decide which one to get.

Re: Fiamma Caravanstore for Symphony
Don't know if anyone is interested but I have for sale a Fiamma Caravanstore 225 C/W awning rail. It's like new and has only been used once.
Looking for £130 collect from Evesham.
Cheers for now Gray

Thanks for that Gray. Unfortunately Eveshams too far for me to collect.
