Water tank drain tap Symbol
Hi there friends. I have ordered a new drain tap for the clean water tank on my 2005 Symbol. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to fit ? Hopefully it is within my capabilities. Thanks.

Hi,
I believe......you have to lower the tank to get your hand plus spanner inside on the retaining nut, there should be an access on the top,
Regards,
Chris

Re: Water tank drain tap Symbol
Hi there,
Don't know where the Thread has gone to but one of the Forum members came up with a brilliant idea to tighten up the drain tap and I THINK that the same system could be used to fit a replacement.
What the person concerned did was to drill a small hole from the outside of the tank so that the drill bit went through the flange on the inner nut. As he was using a non-corrosive bit he then left it in place and sealed it so that it wouldn't leak.
The drill bit held the inner nut in place to that he could tighten the tap from the outside without the need to drop the tank.
I THINK the same system could be used to replace a tap:
o IF the threads on both taps were the same size, AND,
o A stainless steel screw was used to hold the inner nut in place whilst the change-over took place, AND,
o Removing the old tap and installing the new tap was done with great care.
On the other hand, it may not work at all; but I think I would give it a go rather than drop the tank.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Thanks for both replies. Doesn't sound as easy as I had hoped. Any idea how I would drop the tank if the last suggestion didn't work?
