Removing a Seitz sliding window
I need to replace a cracked sliding window assembly in the side door of my 04 Symbol.
Have sourced a replacement, but here comes the funny bit...........How to get the old unit out!!!!!
It looks like a formidable operation, can't find any instructions or videos on google.
Anyone out there, been there, done that???
All advice gratefully received, Mike.

It sounds formidable but the frame needs to jacked apart just enough to remove the pane and exchange it.
If you PM me your email I will send you some pictures as I don't know how to do it on here.

and if you can put pictures on we could keep that info in the factsheet section. Your expertise could be invaluable to the forum.

I didn't hear from mikemelson so assume he has sorted out his window now. I don't have the ability to do pictures here.

Re: Removing a Seitz sliding window
Just returned from tour of France & Spain & still got gaffer tape over the hole in the window, haven't had the bottle to start removing the unit as yet.
Someone suggested jacking the frame apart to replace the pane, but as mine is leaking water to boot, I need to replace & reseal the whole unit.
I am fortunate to have been given a window from a 2010 Duetto which is exactly the same, but removing the old unit looks a daunting task.
Someone, somewhere must have performed this operation.
Also, Re. removing the roller blinds. If I remove the top & bottom cassettes, are the side channels separate?. I have this morbid fear of springs flying everywhere & never being able to fit them back together.

Re: Removing a Seitz sliding window
Are you sure the window is leaking from the mounting of the frame into the door panel ? and/or how have you determined that the frame is leaking where mounted to the door panel ?
Removing and refitting the frame assembly complete is a huge job.
Removing and replacing the window from/to the frame is easy.
The Seitz blinds are easy to remove and replace.

Re: Removing a Seitz sliding window
Hi,
Ok, how do I get the sliding or fixed window out of my 2001 symbol so that I can clean it out. Getting a new life form growing in there and I can't get at it,
Chris
you have a p.m.
