Re: DRL Lights on a Mercedes
(Front?) mudflaps, leather steering wheel (proper one!) Alpine audio, over mat, heated seats.
Here, who's a lucky boy then, Groundhog? I got none of the above. Sure, I have rear mud flaps - but they aren't a moulded Mercedes fitment, they're a bit of gash-hand flat rubber hanging down. LEATHER steering wheel? Mine's plastic - and without control buttons! Over mat? What's that? I've got a standard moulded plastic floor covering. Heated seats? Blimey mate, you're spoilt!
Peter Ploughlin, many thanks for your webpage info, I'll give it a try later (do I need to interpret Russian?) And thanks for your kind guidance on the other issues you raised in explanation to my findings. I'll bear it in mind. Mirror covers? Yes, what finally persuaded me to part with my hard earned money was the lovely sight of a set fitted on an A/S MH at the very recent Bristol Balloon Festival weekend at Lower Ashton Farm, Motor Caravanners Club field. That wasn't your vehicle was it perchance? Beautiful!
Regards, Barry.

stoneb,
No Russian needed, VIN is in English, as are the results, well apart from a bit of German.
No,not me in Bristol.
The cab mat is, or should be, part of the standard hab carpet set

Re: DRL Lights on a Mercedes
Thanks once more Ploughlin, it looks like I misinterpreted what Groundhog meant by "over mat". I had assumed he meant a Mercedes supplied cab mat, over the standard moulded plastic floor covering! I stand corrected.
Yes, Winnie Winchcombe was fitted with removable floor carpets throughout, including the cab.
Anyone got a supply of "foolscap" paper? I'll stand in the corner - I'm embarrassed by my ageing grey matter!
Respects paid, Barry.

Re: DRL Lights on a Mercedes
Stand not in the corner young man, he did mean that!
We have the standard Marquis carpet and then a black fitted one over that..... why two you may ask?
When we sell the van eventually the originals will be perfect, if it gets worn out I can just throw it away and it cuts out noise from below and makes the cab more cosy.
That is my excuse anyway!!
The steering wheel came from Royal Steering Wheels, Jack is the man there, they take a standard Mercedes wheel and completely recover it with new leather and will make any combination you like.
Super job they did too! Mercedes dealer fitted it for free!
I just like the feel of a comfortable wheel, when I am driving it is what connects me to the vehicle so it had better be good.
You can retrofit the ones with controls on the wheel but you have to change the whole steering column and wiring, silly money to do it though.....
I do rather fancy DLR's though......or maybe fog lights to fill that blank space in the bumper.....

Re: DRL Lights on a Mercedes
Earlier, I mentioned I had ordered some LED DRL lamps.
Via Amazon, I bought from Parts Group (Auto Silicon Hoses Ltd, W.Yorks, WF14 8NA) @ £9.39 a pair, free delivery, SKU number LED127-APE. They came via Yodel couriers today.
The lamp holders were right little "hmms" to get out of the reflectors. Having been to Merc workshop last week to pursuade the wiring that the DRL's were there, I found one lamp holder now has a broken clip, you have to squeeze 2 clips together and wriggle the holder out, this is not easy. You end up with sore finger and thumbs, and at 5'3" I'm a bit short to see over the bonnet!
They work fine, had to turn them over when they didn't work first of all, then they did. Nice, bright white light, consuming much less power than before. And no warning lights on the dashboard!
Best regards, Barry.
PS were away via Roscoff for a while (I'll tell you about that after we return). Sorry if things seem quiet while I'm away - don't worry, you won't miss me too much!
