Does anyone use their mug rack?
In the latest Symbol and probably other conversions, the mug rack seems impossible to use for mugs! Has anyone managed to fit a mug into one of these wire racks fitted into the top cupboards?
I've tried several different ones including the melamine ones supplied with the van but there is just not enough headroom to get the mugs into the frame. Tea cups fit but I don't think many people use a cup and saucer these days.
Has anyone changed the rack for a more usable one - if so please let me know.
John

We use the standard cup rack / holder in our Warwick Duo. In order to reduce rattles, I have made cardboard liners out of a cereal box, but have no problem at all fitting Melaware mugs into the holders (I should say that the mugs are not the ones that came with the van, they are an old set that we have had for over 20 years).

Hi there,
We must have different systems because ours are wood and the manage to accommodate 2 x Tesco china mugs at the top and 2 x Whisky glasses at the bottom.
For the rest of the crockery, we dumped the original stuff in favour of white Corelle Ware as per ....

.... it's fantastically tough (not one chip, crack or breakage in four years!) and very light.
We also got a couple of covers for the desert/soup bowls so that we can safely store any excess food that we cook in the fridge.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

Hi John
We do use the supplied mugs in the mug rack in our 2014 Symbol. Admittedly it isn't as easy as it should be. We find by lining the handles up with the slots first and by tilting the mugs slightly they do go in.
When on site we leave two mugs, free from the rack, ready to use. We only put all four mugs in for travelling.

I use the fitted crockery cupboard in the Fiat Ducato Harmony. I have Melamine crockery and all the mugs fit perfectly in the slots.....

Does anyone use their mug rack
Hi there
First job on all my new Symbol was to remove all mug racks, plate racks, glasses clips & bottle holders, the extra space is great! I then have everything free standing but use plenty of tea towels & telescopic bar rails to stop movement. After about 5000 miles so far so good.
Happy trails

Hi John
I took out the metal racks which are as much use as a chocolate teapot , and managed to fit the cool bag with plates etc into an overhead cupboard. I also bought "FROLLI" mug holder and a foam glass & cup holder which are pretty good. I then thought "what can I use the metal cup holders for rather than bin them?" They are a great holder for bottled water especially "SASKIA" from Lidl...cheap and very pleasant! I have screwed them to the outside of the storage box with a lid under the wardrobe...perfect!
Hope this helps.
Cheers, John

Took all the mug and plate racks out of our Duo. Freed a lot more space and wrapped the mugs in bubble wrap pouches. Use disposable plates and plastic knives and forks. Costco provide these in bulk. Also saves water etc when wild camping.

We also use Corelle crockery and agree that it's tough, but it's not unbreakable as we found out last year, when we sent the 16 year old daughter to wash up on an Italian site. As she washed, she placed each item on to a folding drainer rack, which collapsed spilling the entire contents on to the tiled floor.
When she sheepishly came back to tell me, I went across to the dishwashing area to be confronted by a bomb site. The glass Corelle plates and dishes had literally exploded into thousands of small sharp pieces, spread over a big area.
It was an expensive lesson after I'd replaced all the broken stuff.... Do my own dishes !

I took one mug rack and the plate wire racks out and fitted a new plastic rack that sort that was in originally, took out the silly Velcro straps, use melamine plates / dishes with cardboard plates in between each one, no rattles and they stay in place, 2 china mugs and 2 glasses in the cup holder, also have one wire cup holder that holds another two china mugs works well for me,
