T5 Trident owners..
Help us out here.
Do you have a Fiamma Carry-Bike on your tailgate?
Have you ever fitted a plastic Fiamma Ultra Box on it?
Does it clear the roof when you open the tailgate?
I really need to know before buying one, off to Europe next week.
Ta.

Re: T5 Trident owners..
Good questions!
We have a standard Fiamma bike rack and have recently bought a Fiamma box. But I have yet to try fitting it. If I'm honest, I was not expecting to be able to open the boot fully with the box installed. As long as I can get to swith the gas on and get a few bits out the boot I'm not too worried.
Let me know if you need more info - I can always pop the box on the rack and take a few pics - should give you an idea of whether the boot will open. Probably best to email me - steve [at] stellabooks.com.

Re: T5 Trident owners..
Hi Steve, thanks for reply and offer of help. Yes have to say I too contemplated just not opening the tailgate fully, a bit sort of Russian roulette with the paintwork though, gulp. We're off to Europe next week for the summer and I'm running out of time, so many things to sort out I'll be glad to get on the ferry at last and stop running around with preparations! So I took a gamble and ordered a box yesterday which might arrive today. I've removed the gutter shaped bike rails from the drop down platform so as to lose a bit of height by fixing the box direct to the platform. I'm sure the instructions would say you can't do that but I'll give it a determined go lol. I'll let you know how I get on ( nice looking van BTW Steve)

Thanks Mark - your van looks pretty good in blue!
I'd love to see a few pics of the box mounted. I've balanced the box on the back - but am yet to tackle mounting it - so any advice would be appreciated. I was debating taking the rails off - should make things a little easier.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks, yes we like the blue, not so many around in blue, easy to spot when you come out of the supermarket lol.
The box didn't arrive yesterday, hopefully today. I'll let you know how it goes.

Box arrived and now fitted. Not easy. The drop down platform of the Carry-Bike rack does not sit at right angles to the main uprights which is a shame really because a box is a square thing!
You need to get the 4 main fixings on the uprights of the bike rack so it's preferable to have the box sitting flat against the uprights.
Fiamma instructions are to sit the box on the gutter shaped bike rails which is impossible as the platform is not at right angles to the frame and the base of the box will only rest on one edge of one rail.
if you rest the box on the gutter rails it sits far too high and will definitely strike the roof when the tail gate is opened.
Take off both gutter rails and replace with a length of 25mm mild steel hollow square cross section bar (from B&Q). Fix it to the original holes in the platform using 5mm machine screws 2.5 inches long (also B&Q) use the original locking nuts from the rails you've removed. Cut it to length after fitting the box and use some Hammerite because it's mild steel and will rust. Good quality aluminium would be better if you can find it but I couldn't find any and was needing to get it sorted quickly.
The box will sit nicely and will clear the roof when the tailgate is opened.

Bike rack.
Sorry if this is too late to help you.
I have just fitted a two bike Fiamma rack and when fitted the tailgate does not open fully due to the rack hitting the roof.
Theres still enough room to access the rear gas etc and other things can be got from inside.
Bit of a pain if you have a rear awning.
Due to the bike rack being top drawer i will put up with this though.
Regards
Andy.

Hi Andy,
I know the later T5 Tridents had cut outs in the high top for the fiamma rack - you can see them in Markus's avatar. This could be the issue in your case??

Umm... a little hard to tell from your avatar - but it looks like you are missing the 3 cut outs.
I think I read somewhere that you can fit a T4 rack to a T5 - but need to purchase some adapted brackets from AS. I think this overcomes the need for the cut-outs - but I'm not certain.
