Re: Mercedes Sprinter Horn
It is time to do this mod I feel having been cut up badly by a transit today, thinking about Stebel TM80/2 and being an electrical numpty getting MB to fit it for me at the upcoming MOT....or is it a job even a simpleton like me can't get wrong!

Hi Groundhog, I’m keeping my eye on this one - didn’t realise the horn was so weak, for such a large vehicle !

Mick

Just had a look on fleebay, Stebel around £35 ? Need to have a nose under the bonnet .....
P.S What tyre pressures do you use - never had such a hard ride , no matter how much or how little air I have in the air suspension.
These AllSeasons tyres are awful - Hope you have a solution.
Look forward to another quality photo of your horns !

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Horn
Hi Groundhog,
Just an update on the water filler and hatch - AS fitted the filler and a 1652 pump on Monday, but would only fit a hatch to the bottom of the tank.
As the heat pad is on the bottom, I didn’t bother. If the pump packs up, I’ll get a Shurflo one inside the bed locker.
Did you get the horns fitted yet ? Can you make a note of wiring and relay changes if required please.
Had to scrounge a new wardrobe floor at AS, as I had a 5l water bottle bounce and it went through the floor.
Must get the suspension sorted, it’s far too hard, even playing with air suspension pressures, the ride is harsh to say the least.
Another member is changing his springs, so will follow his post.
Hope all is well in sunny Cornwall. Regards, Jonesie..

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Horn
Hi Mick
No horn not fitted yet, somewhere I saw a complete diagram on how to do the job, it was on a US website and very detailed, I am just too chicken to have a go myself so am getting the local Mercedes garage to do it. If I find it I will send it to you.
Re the suspension, hope you get it sorted, I have never heard of anyone saying the suspension is too hard but several that it is too soft!
Is it possible the previous owner has done something else to stiffen the suspension?

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Horn
I think the later models have a problem at the rear, lots of reports of springs breaking on Motorhomes only 18 months old.
It’s mentioned on this site, One of the options is to have a two leaf spring instead of the single one. My previous owner had air ride suspension fitted, but it makes no difference whatever pressure I put in.
I’ll keep you informed .

Re: Mercedes Sprinter Horn
Job done... fitted stebel TM80/2 horns and are such a huge improvement over the old peep peep moped one!
Remove grille, 4 screws and old horn is located on top left behind grille. Simply removed that and replaced with one of the stebel units, cut and joined the connecters to fit. There are four points on top of the stebel horn itself so just mounted the other one on the opposite side of the grille and ran a twin cable across the top.
It was all very easy and took no more than 30 minutes. The van already has a relay so it seems it is not necessary to fit the new one.... will found out when the fuse blows after a five minute blast I am sure!
I would like to have angled the new horns down slightly more so no water gets in but that is belt and braces, there isn't really room to do that.
Mine is a 2012 old shape sprinter so it may be different on the latest shape.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the message, I'll go on eBay and get a pair. Just waiting for the update from Jaytee regarding the rear springs, and I'll be sorted for a few days away.
