Peugeot Boxer Harmony
I am still looking for a bargain Autosleeper.
Been to see a Harmony ES this afternoon and had the following advisories back in 2014.
Do they really corrode so much? I practically ran away!
Nsf brake pipes corroding
Corrosion osf inner wing
Central body brackets corroding
Outer rear sill ends corroding/holed
Exhaust rubber missing
Rear valance corroding

Ops! I hadn't seen the post. I went to see it as it was not too far from me. Not a scam but I wouldn't expect much in way of dealer support!
The vehicle has had replacement seat covers or seats from a newer autosleeper.
Someone had used touch up paint to try and hide external corrosion. There were black damp marks in the over cab locker.
Looked like he couldn't get reverse when he was leaving the third party location.
I had checked the MOT history against the V5c and that's how I got the interesting history.
Must have lived next to the sea for most of its life, or in it!

Glad that you have your head screwed on, it shows once again how useful it is to find a forum dedicated to the object of ones desires, before buying it.
It's interesting that, once your dream appears in the flesh, the urge to 'just buy it and be damned' is very strong and dubious sellers know this. Presumably this is why it was brought to a third party location, in the hope that you'd be reluctant to leave it and drive away.
Many years ago, a dodgy dealer brought a Merc 350SL to my dad's business premises against all our advice to my dad.
My brothers and I got under the car, under the bonnet, raised the roof and proceeded to figuratively tear the car to shreds, as it was a complete rusty bodged up dog.
My dad got really annoyed........with us, and handed over 10K in hard earned, cash no less.
I'm not sure how many miles he actually drove it, but not many, and finally took £100 from a 'scrapman' to take it off his driveway, the auto box in itself was worth a lot more than that, as was the engine.

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
One thing I'm curious about - did they claim it had 12 months MOT as in the advert or were they offering to put a 12 month ticket on it if you bought it?
I can tell you previous owner had so much trouble with the van over the last 12 months that he got rid to cut his losses. Apart from the rot issues, the immobiliser also has a nasty habit of cutting in whilst being driven.

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
Too true me and Chris, I am afraid we can quite often buy with our hearts. One of the great things about the t internet, is all the support you get from owners and the amount of information at your fingertips.
Paul, He told me that it had a months mot on it but it was going in for MOT on Monday.
I asked him how much he expected to get and he replied 8k. The sellers say they are 'brokers' and that enquires need to be put to the owner/seller. The broker and the owner are one and the same.
Shows how careful you need to be buying.

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
I'll be checking the Dvla website for a new Mot (or failure).

Probably failed as it's now been withdrawn.jimbo07g41 wrote:

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
Been looking at a much newer model Harmoney and it has had recent work on seat belt (near side)mounting point, rear suspension top mounts and one sill. Can they be easily welded/fixed or does the issue return?

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
I'm tempted to say steer clear of anything that needs that much welding.

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
See my MOT thread, I'm amazed that our 20yr old Boxer has such a clean and rust free chassis, the tester commented on it again this year.
Last year he asked me whether our "N" reg was a private plate?
Strange how some vehicles just dissolve away and others have no issues, I've checked back our MOT history, and it's all stuff like brake cylinders, marker lights and steering joints where there's a fail.
Not boasting, I count myself lucky is all.

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
Seems like it is simple things that kill the boxer autosleepers. Scuttle under windscreen gets blocked and having no front mud flaps can cause issues.
The newer vehicle I enquired about had been fixed up, but I wonder whether it will have just been patched up.

Re: Peugeot Boxer Harmony
I guess the coach builds don't have the same issue as they are a cab and a spider frame, with a box sat on the back. On the vans the chassis is part of the van body. It is the sub frame and exposed brackets sills etc that rust.
Eve seen a ten year old with similar issues. Dealer was upfront straight away before I even checked history. They are going to fix anyway for mot.
I really like the compact boxer and layout is fantastic, while my kids are small.
