Adjusting Fiamma bike rack
This may appear twice as I am new to this forum.
I would like to raise the position of the Fiamma bike rack fitted to our 2006 Symbol so that there is enough clearance to carry two bikes on a tow ball mounted Thule rack (Which we already had for our car) below it. We could then use a storage box on the Fiamma rack to carry bulky but not too heavy equipment.
This would save us lifting heavy electric bikes above shoulder height and give us some added space to store bulky items.
The rack would only need to go up about a foot to clear the handle bars. Could anyone tell me if the position on the door is permanent or if the height can be adjusted without needing to drill holes etc.
Thanks in advance.
Eric

Re: Adjusting Fiamma bike rack
Eric, my Symbol is the newer shape and is fitted with the Fiamma Carry Bike 200 DJ as shown here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Bike-200-DJ the fitting instruction: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] shows on Page 11 a position A and a position B which could answer your problem if your bike rack is similar.
Hope it is what you need ... Jeff

Re: Adjusting Fiamma bike rack
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for replying. I've checked the manual as you suggested, but we need to move the whole rack up a bit rather than have the actual bike rails in the higher position - where they are now.
But - we could use the lower settings to avoid heaving the bikes up so high if we find another way to carry more gear.
We find plenty of living room in the Symbol but not a lot of storage for items like windscreen covers, awning sides or bike shelters - non of which we have yet. Enjoying finding our feet and learning the ropes, though!
Cheers,
Eric
