Belt or chain
On my 2009 Peugeot Boxer Warwick is it a chain or cam belt. When I bought it I was told it was chain but I would like to sure because if it's a belt I may want to replace it if needed.

Re: Belt or chain
The service book should itemise a belt change at ?????? miles or years, if it is belt.

Re: Belt or chain
I use the Gates website for looking up belts
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It looks like the later boxers after 2006/7 are chain as they don't list a cambelt.

I am sure the dealer will know for a fairly new van.

The 2009 Peugeot Boxer service book states that the following Hdi diesel engines have timing belts:
1.4L, 1.6L, 2.0L, 2.2L & 2.7L.

Assuming your Boxer has the 2.2 litre Ford engine, it will be chain drive to the camshaft.
You can easily check, just look under the front at the oil filter housing, if it has the "Ford" logo just above the nut holding the housing, it is a chain drive unit. As far as I know the X250 Peugeot and Citroen 2.2 litre engines are all Ford.
Have a look at this link in order to see what you should be looking at:

The "Ford" logo can be clearly seen.

I can assure you if Gates don't supply a timing belt for an engine it 100% won't have one.
The pre 2007 models 2.0,2.2,2.8 did have timing belts but post 2007 are chain.

Re: Belt or chain
My 2.2 (2006) Symbol has a belt which according to the book needs changing every 10 years. As the vehicle has done 12,500 miles and is now 9 years old I will change it this year.
