Bourton awning advice please
I have not yet taken ownership of the Bourton but think an awning maybe a good idea
Any thoughts would be appreciated .
I have been quoted just over £1000 for a 3.5m Extra Large G2 Residence Room Model 6200 (Thule) with all the associated bits -skirt etc. This looks like a heavyweight but durable option. It is expensive though.
I am wondering if the lighter quick fit option ( about 1/2 the price) is a better option?
Thanks in advance
Gerry

According to the Thule website the G2 isn't listed as being available for the 6200

We had a little drive away awning for out Duetto - It did what was needed but was always wet when we had to leave site!
We have certainly never felt the need on any of our subsequent coachbuilts, the supplied Omnistor unit being perfectly adequate for sun or rain shade and the inside of the van for everything else.

I have a Bourton and have found plenty of room under the supplied canopy in both sun and rain. When I see an awning I always wonder why?

Don't forget about the weight of these safari rooms. You won't find the weight in the brochure but a 4metre one weighs 29kg. I found that on another forum.

Re: Bourton awning advice please
Thanks for comments.. The answer seems to be no
1. Not needed..supplied awning sufficient
2. Heavy which is a premium consideration with Bourton
3. A hassle when wet
Looks like a windbreak may suffice
Regards

Hi Lucasg,
I have just bought a or Ormister Thule side strap hold down kit, just over £20. Gives that extra protection when it gets breezy.

Has anyone used the plastic cups or whatever the correct name is.? they are sold with gazebos, to hold the legs in place, in windy weather, they can be filled with water or sand, I have them on my gazebo on the patio, it has been up for nearly two winters and these leg supports are great, they would fit the Fiamma awning legs,
Sorry if this is off topic, thought it was relevant in relation to wind out awnings.
Regards,
Margaret

We where going to get an awing for our Harmony but after consideration decided to make do with the canopy - we did buy a set of wind blocker shades (http://www.mysunshade.co.uk) which are excellent, pack down into a carrier bag and don't weigh much at all - they are easy to put up and really do keep the wind off - really good for extending the time you can sit outside!

Yes they are the ones, when empty not heavy so ok in motor home weight wise and wouldn`t take up much room either, , very easy to fill and put in place, extra security for the awning, although I do have the storm straps.
I was surprised that I haven`t seen any on the sites I have been on.
