Roof removal Empty Roof removal

Post by Rubystar Mon Sep 22, 2014 6:15 pm

Hi

I have a VW T25 Autosleeper Trident that requires some tidying up. There is a little rust above the front windscreen under the rubber trim. A local VW specialist says that they would need to weld a section in place of the rusty section. This itself is not an issue, however they say they will need to remove the roof to do it properly. This involves quite a bit of work I would imagine.
Does anyone know how the roof is fixed on? Is it bonded? Does anyone have any experience of removing the roof on a older Trident? I am somewhat concerned about them messing up the inside of the van.

Thanks

There have been some very comprehensive threads on here with photos showing all the gory details. For example:

Although it's a Trooper the principles are likely to be the same as a Trident. IIRC there's at least one other detailed thread on this subject, so some forum searching would be worthwhile.
