Trafic Diesel or petrol.
Hello Folks.
I am getting nearer choosing which camper to purchase. It will be a Trafic around 5 grand or so which will let me dip my toe in.
My question is which to go for, diesel or petrol. I am a diesel head and prefer the driving charcteristics. What sort of MPG can I get out of a 2.0 or 2.1 Trafic driven sensibly. Or would a petrol be more economical?
Any suggestion gratefully accepted.
Also can I fit SKY tv and sue my Sky card?
Cheers,
Charliesniff.

Hi That's a few questions.
Fuel figs for old engines not much difference and 20 to 25 i expect. However not a problem unless your doing high milage.
No idea on Sky question.

I prefer diesel as not such a fire risk

In that price range a petrol one will probably be one with a 1721cc engine. I owned one once and didn't enjoy the driving experience, having previously owned a 2 litre Transit. Sadly I never got to try a diesel of the same era - I'm told it's better to drive, but still a bit under-powered...

I had a K reg 1721 petrol Trafic and I thought it was an easy drive. Horses for courses.
I used to get around 23mpg except one time when I had a problem and was told not to go above 50mph up the motorway, then I got 28. I changed it for an L reg diesel and got around 33.

One thing to remember is that if there is a shortage due to strikes you will get petrol but you may not get diesel.

I am learning all the time on this site.
Never considered the fire risk or strike risk when deciding between petrol and diesel.

Mike

Most larger cars now seem to run on diesel, as soon as a shortage is mentioned all the people that do a lot of miles for work, all the vans and all the HGV's fill their tanks. The last 3 times there has been a shortage I have had to use my wifes car for work as I could still get petrol but the diesel had long gone.

Did you mean use your sky card? If so, then yes if you take the box it's paired to with you (I think!).
